How do adcoms look upon time to graduate? Reason for asking is because I transferred from a community college to a small private university and it looks as if I wont graduate on time because the courses required (for my major) arent available in the spring. They dont offer jack squat in the summer either. So on top of being a 5th year senior. I will graduate in 5.5 and the extra time is not my fault, but it is my issue. How will adcoms see this?

My understanding is that it does not really hurt you that much if you grad. in 5 yrs or 5.5 yrs, as long as you have a great Explenation on why it took you so long to complete Undergrad. (which it seems as it was not your fault anyways) Just explain this on the app. or when asked at the interview, and make sure that you have really good EC's, since you're finishing 1.5 yrs later than normal maybe in that time you could fit in a couple more EC's...... I mean couple more Ec's can't look bad, specially in your case. As well as you should have strong LOR's. Just my 2 centz😀

It took me six years to graduate, and I got interviews to every school I applied too, and accepted to the schools I interviewed at. Not one question on why it took me so long. I switched from finance to sports medicine. So don't fret, I don't think it is an issue. Good Luck!!!!

I don't think it will hurt you at all.

I think if other areas look strong and you have a reasonable explanation for this, it will be a non issue. For instance, I technically took 13 years from the time I started college to when I graduated. I dropped out because I couldn't handle all the extraneous stuff at that time. I returned and did two bachelor's degrees in four years. I made my weakness my strength. You can find your own way to turn your situation around, since I don't think yours is nearly as bad as mine was.
