Hi everyone! So I am graduating with my bachelor's in a few weeks and I really want to decorate my cap for the ceremony. Since I will be attending veterinary school in the fall, I want to incorporate that. Anyone have any ideas or pictures of what they did?

Thanks!

My school doesn't let us decorate our graduation caps 🙁 I was so sad when I found out. I had plans. Big plans.

I stole my idea from @batsenecal i think? But since I'm going OOS I'm going to put Louisiana in one corner and Mississippi in the other and paw prints in between them to show the next part of my journey 🙂

You did. 😛 . But that's okay! I did decorate my cap, but it was poorly done, honestly. Life decisions were made, they were regretted. lol. I wish I had done the state to state paw print thing. I came up with that right when I was reading that post.

That is such a cute idea! I'm will be in the same state though :/

I mean, graduation is the 6th and I haven't started... So idk if it's actually gonna happen lol.

Wow! I love it! Is the pattern on a fabric or did you draw/paint it on?
Thank you! It's actually a glitter-patterned scrapbook card stock paper. There's no way I would be able to draw something like that. Haha

That's when I graduate too, but we can't even pick ours up until the 3rd!

In that case, I would do from city to city. Or do the acronym of your undergrad in one corner, do the footprints of your mascot to the knobby thing you wrap the tassel around, then do the footprints of your new mascot to the other corner where the acronym for your vet school is (just came up with that right meow).

I'll be going to the same institution, haha! OSU --> OSU 🤣Thank you for your input though!

Love all of these ideas! I'm thinking of just doing something simple like "off to vet school!" and a few paw prints

We're not allowed to have decorated caps for oath and hooding (something something solemn event) but definitely can for the legit commencement the following day. Traditionally the DVM student ones are pretty over the top despite the time crunch. I've got an octopus plush (codename: celebratory cephalopod) that my roomie gave me as a silly "congrats you got in" deal, and I'm pretty sure he is going to grace the top of my mortarboard. 😀

I approve of this so hard.

Ooooh. I had never even thought about this. I have plenty of BS, but not a B.S., so if we are allowed my cap will have to be spectacular for my first actual university graduation 😛

I'm so jealous. When I graduated I must have lived under a rock or something because I didn't know decorating caps was a thing until I saw everyone else had done it the day of lol But the coolest one I saw had plastic farm animals glued to the top and a fence outlining it. Then colored christmas lights around the fence and it was actually lit up haha I graduated in December a few days before Christmas, it was an awesome design.

Haha, me too. I also had a December graduation so I was rushing to get everything ready to move home and didn't even think about the possibility. But only a few of us had decorated (probably because of it being December), and they were mostly glitter/sequined/bedazzled. Don't recall anything super weird or stand-out like that.

When did this become a thing??

I don't remember anyone decorating when I graduated from college.
And vet school we went harry potter style in the UK---and there were no hats. Probably for the best since they hit you over the head when you walk across the stage.

Ended up re-doing mine last week because I didn't think the orange would match anything... Just made it black and white! Also got my ideas from Pinterest!
