In the "tests" section of the VMCAS it asks for percentiles. Do I just use the percentiles written on the score sheet that ETS mailed me? Probably a dumb question, but just making sure 🙂

Yes, I believe so. That's what I did anyway.

Alright. Also, I took it a second time and haven't received my official score report yet so I am unable to add in my scores since I don't have the percentiles. Is it acceptable to just enter that I took the test and leave the scores blank?

nope :/ If I enter Score type it automatically make score and percentile required.

Just go to the GRE website and sign up for a free account. You are able to view your scores for free online with your account. You might be able to get your percentiles a little faster this way. Otherwise, just wait for the score report in the mail.

I am in the same boat you are and know what you're saying about having to enter the %tile. I got the %tile scores posted on my ets acct only a couple of days before receiving them in the mail (for the 1st time I took the GRE). I think we're just going to have to wait to submit the VMCAS app. until then. When did you take it the 2nd time? My most recent take was Aug 21, so I'm hoping to have the %tiles by Sept 6.

I took the GRE a week ago and neither my actual scores nor my percentile scores are posted on my online account yet. It's driving me crazy! lol

I took it the 22nd! And yeah mine aren't showing up on the website (already had an account). I'm going to call VMCAS Monday and see because I really wanted to submit my app before the 1st. Blahhh. I don't see why we would have to wait to submit it if each school is going to get the report sent directly to them.

Last year I went through the same thing. I called the phone score reporting system, and they had the percentiles long before I expected. I can't remember, I think you have to pay to get them over the phone? Be ready with a pen and paper because it reads them quickly.

So, I just got a printout/score report from ETS after I requested additional score reports (from a test taken 2 years ago) and my percentiles have changed from the report from 2 years ago. The verbal went up 1%, quant down 1% and the analytical writing went up 9%! Do they recalculate the percentiles every time you request scores? I assume I will/should use the new percentiles, but I found this odd. Has anyone else had this happen?

Better go edit VMCAS...

Yep, because they recalculate the score distribution cumulatively at periodic intervals.

Ah, thank you! I didn't realize they did that... but given the jump in my writing percentile, I'm glad they do!

Oh gosh, I had no idea the GRE did that! My quantitative %ile went down 3 points! Writing went up by 9 though so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Until I read this thread, I had just entered the %ile written on my original score report (took the test in 2008). I wonder how often there is a discrepancy between the GRE scores submitted by ETS and by what's reported on the VCMAS app.
