I just took my DAT and i got a 20 but my GPA is below 3.0 im taking 12 credits of Bio classes to boost my GPA and I am planning to apply spring 08. Does anyone think taking the GRE and doing well on in may compensate for the low gpa???

I am not sure how that would put into perspectives for adcoms.

First of all, I dont even think there is a place to mention in the application that you have taken the GRE, so you might have to stress that on your personal statement or something.

Second, I am not exactly sure how adcoms will evaluate your GRE score. I think DAT is there for a reason, and thats why dental schools applicants are not taking MCAT/OAT/GRE or other standardize exams. Personally, I dont think adcoms will put much emphasis on your GRE score, but you can always call and ask.

Retake the DAT and get a higher score. That's a better option than taking the GRE.

^ +1.

Taking the GRE will do very little for you. Aim for a DAT of 23-24 if that's your GPA.

useless thread.

only take the GRE if you are applying to grad school, otherwise they dont care.
its why you dont take the mcat if you are applying to dental school.
