Is anyone else creeped out by this thread. It seems like a huge invasion of privacy. This guy is going to be a doctor and 10 years from now when patients google him, one of the top results will be this thread. It's not the worst thing in the world considering most of the comments are positive but this guy isn't exactly a public figure, I would feel weird doing this without his permission.

Who knows, maybe he likes this the thread and is completely okay it.

Nope... He is being praised -- his patients will likely have more confidence in him (as most physicians wouldn't say "Hello, look at my laundry list of achievements").

If I'm part of an admissions committee, this is a red flag. Associate editor? Why not editor-in-chief? To me, this conveys an unwillingness to fill high-responsibility positions. As a physician, William will be forced into leadership roles. He will be unable to allocate stressful or otherwise undesirable tasks to other healthcare providers. As a physician, there will be no hiding behind a co-worker's coat tails! This excerpt reveals a disconcerting pattern in his extra curricular involvement.

Final decision: 2 out of 10.

Reject.

Better start thinking DO.

His bio is publicly available. This shouldn't be considered "creepy" nor an invasion of privacy.

Facebook account passwords would be creepy; although, Facebook is creepy anyway.
 
How is it possible to do a triple major in 4 years? Especially considering its in physics, and two engineering disciplines that have little in common..

At Duke, BME's can pick up a second EE major without too much extra effort. They waive/overlap a lot of the requirements so that it becomes pretty manageable.

If it makes anyone feel any better he's not 22, he's ~27. He was awarded the Rhodes in 07 at the age of 22. He has a fellowship at Harvard meaning that he has completed or nearly completed his Phd. Still pretty awesome C.V.

I know him personally actually. Relatively normal guy that you could never guess from the outside. He actually has a wife that is quite beautiful, mind you. He's just extremely passionate at what he does and it shows. He's definitely busy but still makes time for people. Obv one of the most talented people I know.

I certainly see nothing suspicious about the legal professional/scientific researcher/fashion model who was jointly accepted to the MD/PhD and PharmD/PhD and JD/MBA programs all at the same school. At a bunch of schools. Seems totally reasonable.

I'd be embarrassed to go to a school that granted someone four majors and a minor after only four years of attendance. Most schools worth their salt have rules limiting overlapping courses and waiving them does no good. This is simply absurd. (he also has a MSc from oxford? What?)

He must have started school younger or taken more time. You also can't possibly have time to be first violin, captain of the vball team, and found and direct a nonprofit organisation...at least concurrently.

There is more to life than these accomplishments. William Hwang will know this more poignantly than any of us.
