Hi guys,
Can anyone help me figure out why the H on the OH of ethanol (OH-CH2-CH3) does not split under H NMR. Aren't the Hydrogens on the CH2 group with in three bonds.
Also, H's on CH2 split into a quartet. I thought there is 3 Hs on CH3 and 1 H from OH which would be 4+1=5 and not 4!
