Just wanted to know if the H1 visa for dentists gets filed in the general category or a separate category.

I had the same question too.... how does the whole process work? are there any organization that hire and sponser international dentists in this struggling economy?

for general dentists it is a general category n for that they run a lottery as no of applicants are more than the available quota and for dentists with masters there is a special quota

Think it depends on your employer- if it is for profit organization, then yes general category. If it is non profit or academic then it's a different type H1.
