Hardest class D1 year?

Hi everyone,

What would you say the hardest class in D1 year? Where a lot of students struggle with?

Biochem is what I tend to hear.

How about Dental Anatomy?

I always hear gross anatomy is rough

So what I'm getting so far is every class is the hardest......So much to look forward to 🙂

Anatomy = most time spent

Biochem = pre-req, not taught at my school

General Pathology = highest amount of irrelevant material

No individual class has been particularly difficult, it's just a time crunch.

Out of my four lectures, I think I would rank them this way

Histo> GA> oral anatomy> biochem

It's going to be interesting to see if these results will come true.. only 3 more months!

I'm in the same histology class in undergrad that's taught at the dental school I'm attending next year and It is not hard at all. Can you memorize a picture?

I heard biochem was the most difficult first year from a few people.

I also think it's very school dependent.. Interestingly enough, the current students at my school were saying that physio is the hardest class

Hey when you guys say gross anatomy do they teach ALL of anatomy in DS? Like the chest, abdomen, arms, legs??? Or they only expect you to know head and neck anatomy ?

School is just a big time suck...that's why it's hard. All the classes are same difficulty as college, maybe more straightforward and condensed for nondental basic science if youve already taken upper level classes in college. Dental school makes college seem like vacation...you wanna laugh when people in college complain...you could expect me to say that i would want to repeat college again but you won't hear me say "wow dental school is fun, let's do it all over again." Residency will make dental school look like a breeze.

In this context im assuming youre trying to get 4.0 in college and dental school...if youre trying to do GP and get by with B's its a lot easier

well...yeah...imagine for every exam and practical (like 30 of them), you're always thinking to yourself, "if i don't get above a 90 on this, i won't be able to specialize and do my dream job." that's pretty stressful. pre GP people think to themselves, "what's the lowest grade that I can get on this final to pass the class (which is a C or sometimes B)." there are also pre GP who try hard to get an A regardless of their wanting to specialize but they don't worry if they can't get an A.

At my school, I believe it's waist up. But with an obvious focus on head and neck.

I believe at Baylor, Physiology is a D1 course.
