this is from barrons on p. 364 # 19.

A population of rabbits in Hardy Wein. eq, w/ 9 percent of the population homozygous recessive for the albino trait. The percent of the population that is heterzygous for the albino trait is:

A.3
B.21
C.18.
D.27
E.36

The answer in barrons is .21 (B). But im thinking it should be .42. someone want to give this a quick try?

if 9 percent are homozygous recessive, then freq(a) = 0.3 thus freq(A) = 0.7

so to get the percent of heterozygotes is 2pq = 2 (0.3)(0.7) = 0.42

you are right mg777, the answer should be 0.42, barrons is wrong, no surprise 🙂
