Does anyone know how Harvard sends out decisions? Anyone heard from them yet?

Risa is going to freak out. Scared of her high-strungness. However, word is they are sent out on the 13th. Good luck!

Oh yeah... anticipating 17 zillion of these threads, I have become a master practitioner of meditation since yesterday. Ommmmmmm......

My bad, sorry.

eh, i don't mind reading these threads every day. i'm glad to know other people have got the impending decision on their minds as well. 😱

scary to think about it, but if they send out the decisions on monday, that means they are probably making the final choices AS WE SPEAK!!!!!

I knoooow I just talked to my mom and we were saying how they're probably all decided and stuffing envelopes RIGHT NOW!

Like I said before ooooommmmmmmm.....

Just to make you all nuttier, last year there were weird issues with the status page and the financial aid log-in. You could log-in early if accepted, so it acted as a "leak" of sorts. (See: this year the page will not go up until decisions are sent).

Also for some, the status page reverted to "incomplete" which seemed to correlate (not 100%, but seemed...) with either acceptance or waitlist. This change happened ~3/4, from looking at old threads, when the projected mailing date for decisions was 3/7. By parallel, IF they didn't fix the bug (i would assume they did....!) ours should change over 3/10.

Also no one got the packet, even in boston, until 3/9, so even after they mail, we might be waiting for a while....

Good luck! :luck:

I walked by the admissions office today and saw some envelopes being stuffed... good luck to all those waiting! 😉 😉 😉

thanks Mateodaspy!!! just a bit of reality like that amidst all of this waiting is a relief, but its also scary as hell 😀 :luck: :luck: :luck:

Agreed. It's nice to know I'm not the only one going crazy with anticipation! Just a few more days now . . . 👍

I bet they are sending them tomorrow like Mateodaspy initially heard.
I hope!

after being waitlisted at duke, columbia and MSSM all on the same day, i'm not too optimistic...

I highly doubt it. Call the office to hear the voice recording which says they're being mailed on the 13th.

BUMPing this thread so it stays on the first page!

And oh man, the image of envelopes being stuffed really does get my heart pounding a little bit. I can't believe it's March finally.

Matt, I think you should be our SDN spy. Go into the admissions office, check out a few names on the big envelopes, and post them on SDN 😉 😉 😉

And if we get in, we will be your personal slaves next year for saving us from certain breakdown

Wow, thanks for that info, deadoralive!! I read that thread from last year (it's called "HMS Status Page Question"...you guys can search for it if you like, i'm not sure how to link to it in my post..), and GOD was it exciting. it looks like "incomplete" wasn't entirely a predictor of acceptance or waitlist, but i'm still gonna start checking my status page like crazy...and also the finaid page to see if they ever put it up (it says they'll put it up in early march...wellll....i'm waiiiiiiting!)

GOOD LUCK, my future favorites and friends.. 😍

I received a small rejection letter in yesterday's mail...it is their loss.
Best of luck to all of you waiting!

http://application.hms.harvard.edu

i'd be very surprised if there are any hijinks like last year's (which isn't to say i'm not checking it myself every so often 🙄 ). will the status page even be updated to reflect the decisions?

oh, also - were all rejections sent out this week just for those without interviews?

yeah...**** my heart is beating faster just reading this thread.
No thread has ever done that before.
Game time people. We thrive on pressure.

I just checked my status page and even though I interviewed in December it states that my letters of recommendation have not been recieved. Hopefully this is not the case. (I am "Complete" though)

I would call just to make sure. It is a perfectly legitimate question.

Cover your bases.

don't worry - this process isn't at all as logical as we'd like to pretend it is...i got waitlisted at georgetown, mssm, and nyu, but then got into columbia....and i have plenty of friends who were in similar situations and then got into harvard. so there's definitely still hope! best of luck!

Did it ever say they were received?

Maybe "lost" letters is this year's "incomplete" status. Maybe it's the key! Maybe it means you're in! Of course, my status page hasn't budged...

I don't think they would let any leaks through this year, if they were made aware of them last year, but I have to believe in something....

That's funny. I thought the same thing, but I didn't want to write it and make all the Harvard people go scurrying to check their status page.

We'll I guess it's too late for that.

Happy scurrying.

why would they mail out on monday? if they decided today or tomorrow wouldnt they mail out this week?

kasha said:

The message on their answering machine has said 3/13 for at least a week, so they probably wanted to play it safe and make sure all decisions would be made and all mail would be stuffed by then.

So while I doubt anything will go out earlier than 3/13, I guess it's a possibility.

The FAQ on their website says that decisions are made mid-February and mailed first week in March. While the mailing date isn't true this year they do take their nice sweet time going from decision to mailing... I guess it takes 2 weeks to print and stuff a few thousand letters....

(Although, Harvard, if you're reading this: you can just call us when the decision is made, I promise we won't mind if it then takes two weeks to get the mail....)

During my interview day Harvard collected the cell phone numbers of all the interviewees. Does anyone think there is a chance that Harvard will call the accepted applicants?

I don't remember that happening when I interviewed in mid-January.

When I interviewed, the cell phone numbers were collected in a very informal fashion, so I can't imagine they will keep all of those sheets of paper and sift through them to find the accepted students numbers, or even take the trouble to put all that information into a database. I think we have to just camp out for another week or so. Hey, at least we know the letters are going out in a few days! I really wish every school were non-rolling.

They definitely did that for us, but it was so that if something changed during your day (an interviewer canceling, for example) they could contact you.

I doubt they'll call.

I wouldn't read into that too much. They said they were doing it so they could contact us if our interview times or locations changed last minute while we were out roaming the campus.

so...does anyone's status page say "incomplete"?

What about certified vs. finalized?

I'm certified, finalized, and complete, and my letters of rec and mcat are recorded.

just fyi, we got an e-mail from hms financial aid today to let us know that instead of raising the unit loan this year as they have done in previous years, it is now lower (24,500 instead of 25k)...

i'll go by admissions tomorrow and see if i can't get them to slip a few of those acceptances in the mail a little early... 😉

good luck next week to all those waiting...
