HARVARD...Still Interviewing?

I missed something...why 11 days?
 
"Applicants selected for interviews will have been notified by the third week of January. Offers of acceptance will be made from this group. All applicants will be notified by mail of our final decision by the second week of March."

booo!!!
 
hey i am guessing this status checking page is not really good? b/c i've received an e-mail saying my application is complete, but on this status page i see no letters,,,,
 
Actually, that page contradicts itself. The timeline says what you wrote, but further up on the page it says:

"Applicants selected for interviews will be notified by the first week in January. Offers of acceptance will be made from this group. All applicants will be notified of final decisions during the last week of February. Decision notification is done by mail only under no circumstances will decision information be released by telephone or electronic mail."

which is even worse! Personally, I choose to believe the completion email, which said notification by the 3rd week of January, because I think that this information is probably the most recently updated.

completion email is the most up to date. agreed. third week of january. argh, doesnt look good.
 
I finalized my supplemental in mid-September, and Harvard still hasn't downloaded my virtual evals. I've written the admissions office about it, and received a reply saying my application was complete -- yet it still shows up incomplete on the status page. I hope they at least look at my application before they stop sending out interviews.
 
don't worry about what it says on the status page regarding rec letters- if you've gotten a complete email, you're complete. they just don't bother to change the status page to letters received for some of us.

I never received a "you are complete" email either. I guess I should email them, right? And where is this status page??? I can never find one on the Harvard site.
 
My status page shows that my letters of evaluation have not been received ( even though my advisor sent them out twice). I called the admissions office and the rep told me that the letters have been received. I asked when the last invitations go out and he said " by the end of this month. " So there still is hope for us.....

Harvard is definitely still interviewing.. today they are giving out interviews for 2-3 weeks from now (mid/end january).
 
This has probably been answered elsewhere, but does Harvard send out invites via snail mail or email? 🙂

email. Be sure to download the attachments if you get an invite. They include a sheet you need to fill out about coursework you've completed and an incredibly useful interview day guide.

Is there any correlation between when an application is complete and when an interview is sent out? Are people for example that received the application complete e-mail mid November (like me) less likely to get invited than those complete only in December? Are people getting interviews now those who were complete December or is it all mixed up?
 
I don't really know if the time you were complete really correlates with the time that they send out invites, but my friend, who was complete there late Nov (like a week later than I did), got an invite in December. So...I don't know if this is a bad sign for me 🙁

lol that is a bad sign, there is no reason why they would skip over my or your application, unless they wanted to reject us. *cries

you know i really don't know... i had to send them an email in december that REALLY pissed me off, cause in late sept. they had marked me as complete and then i randomly checked in december and they had switched me back to incomplete for some godforsaken reason. actually it might even still say i'm incomplete... missing LORs or something. but they actually have had everything since september. so i was really surprised to get the invite, cause i figured if i was complete at all it was in december.

anyways, don't lose hope, who knows what their process is?

i was complete oct 24, the status site says my letters still have not been received, and i just got an interview yesterday for jan 18, 19, 25, or 26... dont give up hope or believe the status site!

It doesn't. I was complete in September and got the invite in December.

The status page is meaningless. Do not pay attention to what it says. It showed me incomplete and then I got an interview. They don't update that page.

happened to me too....it said it had not received LOR (after I had received an interview...), so really just pay attn to the complete e-mail. Glck :luck:

Wow, there really doesn't seem to be any pattern at all that helps understand the process. It's almost completely random.

when i called months ago, a lady who picked up the phone told me when the application gets completed does not matter...do they really pick up random files from the ground to review?? people with any kind of knowledge about hms application process- please enlighten us! 🙂

So does anyone know how the admissions process at Harvard works? Do they ever take people with below average stats.? Haha I know Harvard is a long shot for me (stats = 3.4 berkeley gpa, 28 mcat), but I think I have a good number of decent to great ECs and a publication pending. Plus I m doing a masters at the moment.

Anyone know of any situations of people with lower stats getting in?
 
I'm not sure about their process of deciding for interviews. I was complete on 10/24 and received an interview invite on 11/8, interviewed 11/21. That was pretty shocking turnaround, considering my stats aren't stellar.
And I know the status page is bogus b/c mine still says incomplete. I even asked them about it last week and they said I was complete. So who knows.
 
We're running out of time!

This is the third week right....is today the last day? sighh...
 
just out of curiosity, does anyone know if Harvard has stopped inviting for more interviews at this point? I guess if anything this week would be the very last week to hear back??

I think all of the Carribean schools are still interviewing so if you're waiting for an invite from Harvard you are probably all right.

Relax. Harvard, like most Carribean medical schools, is known to take good applicants who may not have the best scores. I thnk your 3.4 from "Berkeley" (and I'm assuming you're making this name up) should be more than enough for an interview.

3.4 or not, what about the DABs? I, personally, think that's what kept me out of Harvard. They really care about DABs and I didn't even mention them once in my PS...

Yeah...I totally forgot about the DABs that I saved from a sod hut that had caught fire. I think I should have played that up a lot more. Maybe we've met on the "saving DABs" trail?
 
i called office today and they are sending out invites till end of the month. i guess there is still a hope!

Woah... Nice. Now all I have to do is fight the temptation to email them and ask if they've reviewed my NP application. (I accidentally applied mudphud 🙄 and hope that I didn't get stuck at the bottom of a pile somewhere due to that... well, a girl can wish that's the reason can't she?)
