This is for all those who are already in BU or know people who are studying in BU advanced standing.
As far as I have heard BU generally accepts people with 90 plus scores. Do any of you know people who have their scores in high 80s accepted into IDP:confused:
What percentage of the class has their scores in 80s? Do they accept any Indian Female below 90 in BU?

I hope somebody can answer me:confused:

hi som,
I know there are students with scores in their high 80's who got accepted to BU in previous years.doesn't know the percentage or anything but there is surely more than one person from what I heard.I think the key is applying very early and having an overall good resume.so don't worry, being an indian or female doesn't matter.

my friend got 93.
somehow i get this feeling tht this dec 2003 exm an unbelievable number of poeple have got above 90.almost all peopl i know have scores of 93-94. is this true or only my assumption.

exactly how many people do u know with such high scores ann 03?

atleast 4-5 poeple.i dont know all of thm personally.
boy its getting real competitive :wow:
as i said this might be my assumption

hi Ann,

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if all these people who have above 90 applied to BU?
I guess I wont have a chance atall with my scores then..
:(

all these poeple are not my friends,i just know their scores. i dont know if they have applied to bu or not.my friend has ,for sure.
i dont know ur scores, but whtever it is ,i think u should apply with a good resume, sop etc.
never ever give up.apply to as many schools as u can.
i dont know abt bu ,but thr r schools which accept students wiith high 80s score also. at the end of the day ,we just cant say wht the selection committes priorities are. apply to bu and all other schools.
as for me,i am also waiting for miracles to happen.....i have a 87 score and i am still waiting for bu

Ann,

I too have the same score as yours, 87... As far as I have heard, BU accepts people with above 90 and I have also heard people with 88 getting an acceptance. Since my score is 87 and I have applied so late, I really dont know.. Only BU and NYU and some other schools have late deadlines for submission of appli's...
So I have applied to only these 2 so far...:(
Hoping for the best, but the competition is too much these days!!!!b

hi somm,

dont worry I amsailing with you I have 85 in part I......

did you get an interview call.........I think we have to work hard at the interveiw and try our best to convince them with low scores and afterall GOD helps us ....

so dont worry we will get in BU......be confident

Hey Ketu,

When did you apply? I have applied only in Jan..
I only know that my application is complete. I have no idea when they will consider calling for an interview.:( :(
Did anyone who applied in Jan gotten an interview call??
Please share information...

ur right ann03- it is getting more and more competitive these days to say the least.

som, IMHO i think u should go ahead and apply- u never know what they are looking for other than scores....take inspiration from ppl in this forum who are applying and getting in with all ranges of scores. maybe if ur resume and everything else is good, scores wont be the be all and end all. all the best.

hi Toothmail,

I will apply to all the other colleges later as their deadlines for 2004 are over. So I will have apply for 2005 for the other colleges on the west coast.. So toothmail, have you applied anywhere??

Hi Folks,
Came back from the interview at BU.It was pretty cool.
Boston is very well connected with subways and buses and I used them.
At BU ,Dr Nargess Ashayeri interviewed me.She is the director of internatonal students. She is very sweet and friendly.
The school is pretty good. They have recently renovated the clinics.
I agree they spend a lot of time doin preclinical didactic work, but I realised that they make us do that so that we are well prepared to take the NERB exam, and I think thats very important that they
prepare us for the licensure exam.
Just be cool and be prepared for an informal interview.
take care and all the best,

hello pink tooth
i noticed that you applied for BU and Upenn, and as far as i know that you were invited to their interviews,my question to you, which one of them really got inside of you if you understand me,both universities are excellent academically but iam asking about the school as a whole, which you found more interesting to enroll in?

Hi Pink tooth,

Could you please let me know whether in your BU interview they told you how many seats are filled already & how many are still left out?I am waiting to hear from them. All the best.

Hi Toothlord,
to tell you honestly before my BU interview I wanted to attend only UPenn. But after visiting the campus and meeting the students I realised that even BU is an excellent school.I realised that they prepare us very well for the NERB(north eastern regional board) which allows us to practice in 18 states..
And they were extremely friendly and never at any moment I thought that my character was being viewed under the microscope.
And in the end it only depends upon how good a dentist you are, when you plan to look for a job(I am not presently planning to specialise).
So if I will join the school from which I hear sooner.
I am taking up the didactic test at CWRU too,so even that is in my list..
Take care:)

Hi Opal,
They told us that we are near the 'tail' of the admission process.
More than two third of the class is full.
There are a total of 60 seats for the academic session beginning fall 2004.
take care

hi pinky, thank you and appreciate you reply, sometimes we got the feeling that Tufts or Upenn is the best but you never know only when you check it out your self and see their campus and that what happened to you, anyway do you know about their speciality programmes& how recognized they are and if there is any privilage for their IDP students?:)

I know one thing about the specialty programs in BU...... All of them have a tuition of 40K per year!!!!!!!! so, the question is after a debt of about more than 100K, would anyone like to double that up!!

you have to pay them to get a residency there? those people are really ruthless.

You don't pay them to get into residency there (if that was what you meant? )
You ofcourse pay tuition for attending the program...... :)

yes Kpat i meant the tuition not the bribe  ,anyway i thought that if you get accepted to a residency programme you get paid a stipend.

Yeah. i know......just wanted to mess around a li'l bit.....

Well, some schools do pay a stipend.....but you do have to pay tuition.....The stipend varies from school to school and some schools with the current budget cut do not offer any stipend anymore.
Tuition is very low in some state schools and right now, compared to what I paid for my DMD, i feel like I am getting the education for free.... ;)

if things continue going this way for a long time i might go back to my country,it seems cheaper and more lucrative.

You can't let things get to you.....ofcourse being in a foreign country we are bound to face challenges every step of the way.....
Look at Sam3, he is being challenged with something new at every corner ( but I am sure he'll face every on of them succesfully)......there is a way out for everything, if you are determined!

What is your status right now? I mean, are you done with NDB/ applications/admissions ????

iam still struggling,i finished the part one and preparing hardly for part 2,iam sure there are lot of challenges specially for dentist the lane is not paved at all though may be as a long term the outcome worth it.:)

Hi Pinktooth,

Thanks for all the info on BU Interview....I have my interview this thursday.

I was wondering how many students came on the day you interviewed

let me know.

Thanks
Sudhas
