.....Well, some schools do pay a stipend.....but you do have to pay tuition.....The stipend varies from school to school and some schools with the current budget cut do not offer any stipend anymore.....

Some schools won't give you the stipend if you're a foreigner.

hmmm...not heard that before! Which school in specific? From what I know, If a school has a policy of giving a stipend they should give it to all the students....may be a foreign student will end up paying higher tuition and does not really benefit from the stipend as much???

mostly all schools dont give stipend to foreign trained dentists with a very few exceptions. but if u have a DDS/DMD from an american school, u are not considered foreign trained anymore. and then the same law applies.

you mean SCK that they dont care about your nationality as much as they care about your education,am i right?

when it comes to stipend/GME funding that's right, Toothlord.

Sticking to the original thread topic...
How many of u have applied to BU after taking Nbd part -1 in Dec ? For one I have applied to BU ....but I havnt heard anything from them till now !!

Hi toothlord,
I am thinking about speciality program right now and the reason is the same as sck pointed out.
My first priority would be to payoff the loan..
As far as I know if you graduate from a school which is famous for any particular speciality(like BU for endo)the you may have slight advantage in getting through that branch..
Thats all I know, and of course good gpa and good scores.I have seen people retake part I and II after graduation so that they have bettere scores to apply for specialty courses.
Take care🙂

Hi Varishta,
I think there are people who have applied to BU with Dec scores, just give them some time and they will respond.
Keep calling them but don't irritate, when did you apply?give them atleast three weeks.
take care

Thanx for the reply ...I really appreciate ur advice.
I completed my application in mid Jan as soon as I got my result

When did u complete ur application Pink Tooth ?

Well, I am sure you will do fine. Good luck with your part II. And definitely all the hard work willbe worth it in the end.

Sck,
All I know is that some foreign students( they landed straight from a foreign country) have gone through the program I am in right now, and they all were given stipend like the rest of the people....so was the case in other specialty subjets. I guess, it varies...huh???

HI Vashstra,
I completed my application in late Dec and heard from them in mid Jan that my application is complete and received an interview letter in the end of jan.
Interviewed on 19th feb..

hey kpat,
what specialty program are u pursuing right now and where.. if dont mind share it with us. also depends on the specialty, AEGD, GPR residents may get stiped regardless of their status.

Hi vashista...

I think the info is already on some other thread...anyway, I am doing my MS in Endo.......And why would I mind sharing it...? 🙂
Yes, a lot of it depends on many other things, I guess.

Hey Vashista,

Me too waiting to hear from BU... I am now losing hope that they will call me for an interview. 🙁 🙁

hey som,
don't worry. i applied to B U in the middle of jan and i got a letter in the middle of feb asking me to come for an interview on the 11th of march. i took the part 1 exam in july 2003 but however i could send my application to them before jan 2004 because i was still in internship in 2003 and did not have a degree certificate to mail to them.

i was also told by someone that if u pass their minimum criteria of 85 on part 1, 3.0 GPA and TOEFL 250 u will get a call. i hope this cheers u up a little.

hi friends,
I was wondering if any of you who applied in Jan this year got an interview call from BU?i had called around 2-3 days back only to know that they are through with the admission process as 90% of the seats have been filled. The lady also told me that i may be interested in applying for next year.
Too bad.🙁..i was kinna hoping on getting into BU.I got an interview for NYU scheduled for Apr 15th hope that goes well.
Cheers!😀

Has anyone who applied with Dec 2003 scores got an interveiw call? I think they have stopped the application process in BU..
For the yaar 2005 how early can anyone apply? Any body with any info please reply

BU stopped interview on March 11, and for 2005 year you could apply after Augest 1. I am also wondering is the waitining list guaranty your acceptence for next year?

Hi Stomat,
Welcome!!🙂

Could you tell me who told you this?were you among the people who were interviewed?
Thanks..

YES,I was among the people who were interviewed, and this information directly from Nicole.

Thanks a lot.
How was your interview with Dr Nargess?did she tell you something about the chances?
I am curious because even I am one of the people who are waiting for BU results.
I was interviewed on the 19th of feb.
thanks a lot

Hi pinktooht!
I was interviewed by Dr. Nargess in March and she told us that they still have 3-4 spots available. So, hopefully, one is yours and another is mine🙂 Also, I have been told, that "waitining list"status guaranty your acceptance for next year. Do you know something at this point?

hi pinktooth,

even i attended the march interview and they told us that ours was the last batch they were interviewing.but Dr. Ashayeri did not interview me ( bad luck ), Dr. Alvarez did it. Interview was really laid back, just personal questions and no technical ques at all. Nicole said that we will be hearing from them in about two weeks.

Thanks a lot folks.
I am really pinning my hopes onto BU.
All the best to all of us🙂
Do you have any idea when they inform ,if the waiting list is cleared?
Thanks and take care

Hi stomat...you just made my day a whole lot brighter!was really pleased to know that a 'waiting list' status gurantees your acceptance for next year😀
Pinktooth..whats up on your application front?have you heard from them yet?
Good luck to all.

Stomatat are you sure?
When I was interviewed she told me that she could offer me a 2005 seat immediatel but not 2004 since only few seats are left.
But now I really don't know what to believe after so many rejections.
I am reluctant to ask her directly because then she might not even consider me for this year....and I don't know whether I should wait till august or start reapplying to schools again...
What are you guys planning?(the alternate list)

What can I say to you about this stuff ? I got this info from Nicol, I mean about alternaty list. Dr. Ashayeri told me exactly the same stuff that you talking about, so, I guess, if you still didn't get a letter it's mean only that you are really good and they still can't decide your fate. But, from my point of view, it's prone to be something nice. Any way it's just about few days. Stay cool!😉

Thanks Stomat,
I will be calling Nicole tomorrow regarding whether my application has been reviewed or not and ask her regarding the alternate list status. It would be atleast a relief that atleast next year's seat is guarenteed...

I'm gonna do the same and don't forget to ask her fax the result to you if it ready. See you tomorrow. And GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi all,

Those who applied late in Jan, did you all get a letter stating that we should apply for 2005???

Hi Stomat,
where are you??

Hi man! I'm working hard on Part 2. Got my mail-alternative list😡 So, I don't know what to do. I got in to NYU, and now facing a huge question: shoud I wait 1 year for Boston(having in hands only VERBAL info about good chance to get in) or join NYU. But, honestly, with this kind of competition I prone to go with NYU this year. I have not much hope about "wait list" status, and can't affort to lose another year, I'm alredy far from my 17😉 . So, any thoughts? And, man, good luck to you, it is unfairly that they make you to wait for so long!!!!!!!

Stick to what you have for sure....go to NYU. What if next year a thousand people with 95 on their part 1 apply to Boston?

That's right, buddy! We never know the future, espesially now!

Does any one has any idea whether any one got in to BU with the december 2003 scores. I am little curious to know and any reply wil be deeply appreciated.

Thanx and have a nice day to you all
