Has anyone heard from RUSH?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone know about whether they are still sending out interview invites? Anyone?

Anyone know about whether they are still sending out interview invites? Anyone?

maybe if they picked up the d@mn phone or answered their d@mn e-mails we could find out 😡

I interviewed on the 28th of February and they said that they thought they interviewing people through the end of March. Dunno if they've sent out all their invitations yet or not.

I was also told that Rush only sends out interviews if they're still looking for people to fill seats in the class, so you won't be interviewing for a wait list spot (as at MCW, for example).

I feel compelled to let everyone know that I got taken off of the Rush last Monday. Not sure what that means for people still hoping to get interviews/accepted.

Did you interview? If so, when?

Did you interview? If so, when?

I actually had the option of interviewing their first spot, I interviewed the third day of interviews which was a bit before Thanksgiving. 5 or so weeks later, got a letter telling me I was on the wait list (Christmas eve eve, super fun), glad to be off the waiting list, but still hoping for Pritzker.

It's really sounding like acceptances come out earlier than waitlists and rejections 🙁 (why don't we have a sobbing hysterically emoticon?) Can anyone refute this? please???

I called Rush today to check on the status of my application, not because I expected them to answer, but because it is part of my compulsive status checking routine. Someone answered the phone!!!! Other than interview day, this is the first sign of seen of life at Rush. I was shocked! I interviewed on January 17th, and she said a decision was made on March 6th. Hope that helps someone. Now I'm just hoping that the fact that she wouldn't tell me what the decision was isn't a bad sign... :scared:

anyone know the phone number for them??

I talked to rush again today. pretty sure my letter is lost in the mail, so they're resending it. Does anyone know if it's a bad sign that they won't tell me the decision over the phone??? The waiting is killing me...

I interviewed on Februrary 28th, and I just got my letter in the mail today. I just wanted everyone to know that I'm a coward and can't open it until Friday during happy hour. How the hell did they send a decision out so fast? I either scared them away or they liked me.

Just got my rejection letter from Rush. Not even a waitlist. 🙁 Has anyone else even been flat out rejected post interview? I thought my interview went really well, and my stats were decent (3.7/32) with lots of EC's. What happened? Did I bomb my interview and somehow miss it? Do I need to seriously improve my interview skills before my next two interviews? I really didn't think it was a problem, and I'm hating my interviewer for telling me that he thought I was an excellent candidate...

Are you OOS? That may be it. I believe they said they were done filling there OOS spots. With your stats you should have plenty of choices. Good luck to you!

i think Rush just finished up their last batch of interviews this week...anyone else anxious to hear back from them? 🙂

did it end up being good news or bad news

Yes. I interviewed on 3/26 and Jill Porter confirmed that 3/26 was the last day of interviews. She said that they were going to try to get all decisions out by 4/15 but said it could take up to 6 weeks which would mean 4/30.

For all that interviewed, I'm sure Jill told you all, but if you forgot...all letters acceptance, waitlist, and rejectiong come in small thin envelops. I'm going to have my husband open it when it finally comes! I am very very anxious!

yeah that's what they said at my interview too about knowing in april 🙂 how did your interview go??

Went ok. Definitely did not go badly, but I couldn't get a read on either interviewer. One interviewer grilled me about how I am going to balance family (2 kids) and medicine. Not sure if he was just checking to see that I had thought about it or if he was against it. We'll see when I finally get the letter in the mail!

Good luck to you!

For those that interviewed recently, what were your stats? I am wondering if I was close to an interview or not this cycle. Thanks

I had a 29 MCAT...very even 9, 10, 10. GPA of 3.65 in Chemical Engineering. Many of the interviewees I talked with at the interview day on 3/26 had what "low" GPA's but they did not say specifically what their GPAs were. I consider mine average.

29S, 3.65, ECs, BS, Bs, and working on an MS. They're interviewing into next month...👍

If they're done interviewing, then how long will I have to wait for my rejection letter? I haven't heard anything from these guys since my application was complete in early September(of course except for a ton of bogus emails) and looking at the stats that the previous interviewees posted I could've made it to that stage too 29/3.9, good ECs and LORs, must have been smth about my essays they didn't like

That's an excellent GPA Vano! I couldn't put my finger on any particular set of characteristics they'd be on the lookout for at Rush. Sometimes, it seems like pure luck when you get an interview. I put down the same spiel in all of my essays; some schools liked it and some others, I haven't heard anything from for months! I even wasted money on some "..will get you into med school.." books! Anyways, good luck! 👍

I was part of the last interview group on 3/26. And they did say that day that we were the last group. Unless...they decided after 3/26 that they wanted to interview more, but I doubt it because it sounded like they were on track to finish up.

yup, they're done interviewing...
they announced it on their website...

Anyone know when 2nd look weekend is scheduled??

Yes, just checked out their site, they're done interviewing, however my status page still doesn't indicate any decision made and I haven't received anything in mail, that would be extremely insolent of them to not even bother sending a rejection letter/e-mail

Has anyone that interviewed in the later part of March hear? I was wondering if we should all expect to hear at the same time. I saw that someone that interviewed on 3/21 just got an invite to 2nd look and was wondering if any others have been invited. I interviewed on 3/26.

I interviewed on 3/19 and got an Evite this morning: invitation to the Second Look Day. In the invitation Jill congratulated me on an acceptance, and said the official letter is in the mail. Good luck to those still waiting!

I also got the e invite to the second look before an actual acceptance came in 😀 That made my day! I'm going to try to come but I was originally planning to go out of town that weekend

i have seen the numbers from medsar (amcas book) for oos applicants to rush. in reality, thought, it is futile for oos applications to apply? are there many oos applicants here that have been able to get interviews and acceptance?

Ah, I'm freaking out now! I didn't know they sent out evites! I interviewed 3/21, and if I'm going by your guys' accounts, I should be getting an evite soon if I got accepted. Damnit, just when I stopped obsessing about the interview questions.

i feel the same way! i was in the 3/21 group too and no e-mail yet🙁

Well, if the same pattern applies to us (which I doubt, knowing the randomness of admission committees), then we should technically hear by tomorrow. But that's Saturday, so maybe next week. Unless they feel like waiting longer.

Has anyone that interviewed in the later part of March hear? I was wondering if we should all expect to hear at the same time. I saw that someone that interviewed on 3/21 just got an invite to 2nd look and was wondering if any others have been invited. I interviewed on 3/26.

Sorry for double post, but where did you hear about the evite for the 3/21 interview? I can't find it in this thread.

I'm SOOOO sorry for making you guys freak out! I went back an looked and they interviewed on 3/19. Good to hear that it looks like they are still working on the last 2 groups that interviewed (3/21 and 3/26). Promise not to hate me if I and up as your classmate next year? If it makes you feel any better I've been freaking out too! 🙂

Whew! that makes me feel better too 😳 hopefully the last two groups are going to be hearing about rush this week 🙂

With regards to the Rush vs. UIC, i really just liked the student atmosphere and overall vibe at rush better. for me, location is what takes precedence...i want to be in the chicago area. Right now i'm in at CCOM and i really luv that school as well. If rush or uic takes me i might have some thinking to do 🙂

Rejected via snail mail post-interview, interviewed 2/28.

Rush Medical College is in the final stages of its interview season. We have
completed all on-campus interviews and are one step closer to determining our entering class of 2007.

What does this mean for our waitlist applicants? In mid April, once all initial
admission decisions have been made by the Committee on Admissions, we will be reviewing the files of each waitlist applicant and making a final decision
regarding your position on the 2007 waitlist. In order for us to consider any
additional information from you, please send updates to the Office of Admissions no later than April 27, 2007. After May 10, we will communicate via e-mail your placement on our waitlist: the top third, middle third, or lower third.

At this point in time, we do not anticipate movement from the waitlist until
after the AAMC May 15th multiple accept deadline.

While we realize this is a stressful time in the application process, we would
like to encourage you to fill out both the FAFSA and our institutional financial
aid application. By completing these forms and submitting the appropriate
documentation now, we will be able to quickly award a financial aid package,
should you be offered an acceptance from our waitlist.

In addition, please notify AMCAS immediately with any new contact information. Additional updates to your file and any questions may be sent to
[email protected].

well, i got my official rejection letter today 🙁 interviewed 3/21 and it came in snail mail today. oh well, i'm glad i had the opportunity to see Rush at least..maybe for residency! i hope the rest of you have better news! thanks for all the Rush support!

Damn, I assume that means that the rest of us that interviewed on 3/21 are probably waitlisted/rejected if we haven't gotten that evite yet.

Edit: What in the world, nothing in the mail from Rush today?!

Because my applications rejected from UIC,If i had the choice its a no brainer for me and would be UIC. RUSH has better atmosphere but ull be in way more debt. trust someone whos looking at the financial aid. even with the max institutional grant it is one of the most expensive schools in the US according to US News and World Report and according to my financial aid letter.
