Hello everyone! This is my first post, but I have been reading through lots of your guys' posts as I prepare for the DAT and have found them super helpful. I am applying this cycle to dental school, and I will take my DAT on June 29th (less than two weeks away 😱). I am having trouble figuring out exactly where I should apply because I do not know my DAT scores. I am using DAT Bootcamp and DAT Genius for all sections of the DAT, DAT Destroyer for gen chem, o chem, and math, Math Destroyer for math, Crack DAT for reading, and QVault for reading, gen chem, o chem, and reading. I am also using Feralis and TyJacob's bio notes as supplements to Cliff's AP Bio. (I have provided info on my DAT practice scores at the bottom of this post to give an idea of where I'm at). I have volunteer hours, leadership experience, 100+ dental shadowing hours, 1 year of research, work experience with children with disabilities and as an o chem tutor. My oGPA is 3.98 and sGPA 4.00. My personal statement and letters are rec are pretty solid. I have not submitted my AASDAS application yet, but my main concern in not knowing my DAT score. So my questions are...
1) Would it be best to submit my application before I take my DAT on June 29th? My reason for considering not doing so is because DAT scores seem to play a huge role in determining where you are accepted. However, I also heard to apply as early as possible. My application will be ready to submit around June 20th. There was a delay with my official transcripts being sent to me to enter them. I feel like I won't be ready to submit until so close to my DAT anyways, that it may be worth waiting to submit, but I'm not sure. Perhaps submitting AASDAS a week earlier makes a big difference.
2) I am an Illinois resident, and I am planning to apply to the following 10 schools:
1. Michigan
2. Ohio State
3. Case Western Reserve
4. University of Illinois
5. Southern Illinois
6. University of Kentucky
7. Marquette University
8. University of Oklahoma
9. University of Missouri-Kansas
10. Virginia Commonwealth
Is it foolish for me to only apply to 10 schools, or do you guys think that is ok? Do the schools that I have chosen seem reasonable and like I may have a chance of getting into them? I know it is hard to say without my DAT score, but that's the issue I am having.
