Does having 3 cycles of REM Sleep increases test scores?

Memory function

-short term
(electrical impulses)

-long term
(requires production of proteins)

REM sleep has been proven to produce long term memory proteins. Thus, does having more sleep, mean having more long term memory to retain the information we are learning? each 3 hours of sleep is considered 1 cycle of REM sleep. so 9 hours would be optimal right?

actually it has been shown that sleep cycle length vary according to each individual (but still do not fluctuate that much - maybe by like an hour at most).

Just as long as one does not wake up in the middle of a cycle they will be ok. If your cycle is 3 hrs, it is better to get six hours instead of 5 or 7, and so forth.
