If you don't have at least an 18 in EVERY category, are you pretty much done?

and this is regardless of EC's, GPA, additinal grad school training, etc.

It's not fair how a 3.0 GPA and 20 DAT get an interview while a < 18 automatically VOIDS your application 😡

Is that the rule? (unless you're a minority, special student, father is on adcom, etc).

Fortunately, that is not the case for all schools. I had a 16 on my PAT and so far have gotten 4 interviews. I think have one or two <18 scores is ok, but your two summary scores (TS, AA) should be >18 to be competitive. Don't lose hope!

I don't think it's a rule. Right now every school is interviewing the same types of applicants, the ones in my mind who they are serious about. Not all of these schools are going to get the same applicants. So when December 1st rolls around, people are going to have to make decisions and when students withdraw to go somewhere else, that leaves spots for those that have not been interviewed yet, maybe because of a lower DAT or GPA, or just late in applying.

I've known people to get in with 16-17 (who did not have ties to the school). All schools look at different things in different applicants. I do feel however, that a 16-17 needs a great GPA and ECs to support the application.

Honestly, your not done. My DAT scores in every section were all over the place. I really don't think DAT scores are everything because I'm experiencing that situation right now. My gpa is average or maybe below and my DAT scores are average but my EC's are above average. Hopefully that makes sense the way I explained. I guess the bottom line is schools look at you as a whole person not just a specific part of you. You can't listen to what everyone says about being doomed if you get below an 18. That's not true at all!!
Just be positive with motivation because negativity can distract you from your goals in seconds to years. If you want something, go after no matter what things in life are thrown at you such as DAT scores. If you got 12 in every section in the DAT you know you have to retake. Just use good judgement on your scores but don't compare yourself to everyone because that'll distract you. Anyways, Good Luck!! :hardy: :hardy: "I love this little icon" LOL

FYI,

UNLV CASE don't invite any applicants with less than a 17 on a section.

You could always try louisville, I know someone with a 15 that got an interview.

It depends on the school but it seems to me that, at least for the private schools, they will forgive a low section if your overall is good. If your AA is below an 18 then you are going to have a very uphill battle.

That is not ture. I got a 16 on my RC but I got an interview from CASE and some other schools. 😕

i don't know about UNLV, but that is not true about case western.

the idea behind standardized testing, is that it is fair.

One of my homies got a reject and that was the reason they gave him, so I guess it was just an excuse to give him.

A 15 in what section?

That was his AA, believe it or not, that is why I am so bent that I applied there and actually wanted to go there.

What a damn joke louisville is!

I am finding that schools will give you any excuse once they reject you.

One of my other homies was rejected from UNLV and they gave him the line, If you are a mormon Utahn applicant, you should have 20's in all areas to be competitive.

So you guys are right. They will tell you anything once you are on their **** list.

Yup, agreed... I have < 18 in perceptual and have interviews at many of the top schools in the country. Don't lose hope as long as the rest of your application looks good.

On the brightside, you can retake DAT. I heard schools average out your DAT scores so its not so bad. On GPA it seems to barely budge with additional gazillion classes.

I wonder if they hold the same standard for AZ mormons. Regardless, that's stupid👎 !!
