Hello,

I'm shayne and i'm an incoming senior pharmacy student at UST. I am planning to get into UST Faculty o Medicine and Surgery but i'm also considering other schools like UERM and PLM..

the thing is my NMAT's very low at 57. i know you need a 65 to get considered in UST that's why i'm retaking it this coming december. i decided not to take the one offered in april as i'm planning to enroll in a review class this october..

is december too late to be able to enter UST med next school year? when did you ppl take the NMAT 3rd year or 4th yr? i need help! my grades were ok except for the perceptual acuity part and social science... tips? Plus, i think i've lost my copy as i was very upset when i saw it last january.. anyway i could obtain another copy?

Good News is if you plan taking the 2007 December NMAT- you have time by your side; time to review AND PREPARE (upper cased for emphasis) and file for the NMAT copy you lost (they might require of it in admissions in any of the schools you wish to apply). At least you know the drill when it comes to the NMAT.

December NMAT is not too late if you plan applying for UST FMS 2008 as that was what I did for this year. I took it on my fourth year although I wish I had taken it third year so as to give me at least a taste of the what I should have focused on (one take lang ako- I think I would have gone to UP med had I two exams).

Bad news is sana, kumuha ka na rin ngayong April- nagreview ka from your first take then take this April's exam- practice mo na, baka mataas pa makuha mo... pero wala na rin naman tayong magagawa kaya magreview ka na lang starting now... as in now na!

Isa pang bad news, this year, a rumor (more of conspiracy) na baka daw itaas ng ng UST FMS ang cut off nila sa NMAT to 85- at least you have to get an 86 kung gusto mo mangyari yon, mahigpit pa kasi ang labanan sa 85 eh.

I suggest you review well, keep your pre med grades up, mag participate sa mga extra curriculars (para makapal ang resume mo, yun yung ginawa ko sa student information sheet ko which seemingly acts as such- trust me, this will help) and practice on those parts na mahina ka. Kung kakayanin mong maka 80+, its 10 decile off sa 90 which will make you eligible for UP med as well.

You have enough time to study and brush up those things if you take the NMAT this december 2007. I would suggest you also make the MCAT materials as one of your review materials. (e.g. the MCAT audio examcrackers) Also practice more often in taking tests... know how to gain more time, how to speed read effectively and stuff like that. I don't really know what area you're having difficulties but the tips above may help. PM me if you need assistance in specific review materials.. I may have resources that might help you.

Good Luck and more power.

yeah i've heard na itataas na nga daw sa 85. i've asked my pharmacology prof (who also teaches there) and she said it was 85. i'm having difficulties with the perceptual acuity and social sciences part. i have no idea how i'd review them..

also, how do i file for another copy of my nmat?

thnx!
