I live in Texas and there is one vet school and its a&m. Do I go to a community college and take some classes so i dont have to take them in a&m or go straight there. I'm kinda new at this and also what classes i have to take. Thank you

The way vet school generally works is that you first get a Bachelors degree and then during your senior year you apply to the Veterinary schools you want to go to. So by going to A+M now no way ensures that you get into the vet school there.

So before vet school you are going to need 4 years of college. That is something you can do anywhere(not necessary A+M). You could go straight into a 4 year school or you could do 2 years at a community college and then finish up at a 4 year university. Which you choose to do is up to you and will depend on your situation.

Either way you are going to be looking to complete all the necessary pre-requisites for the Veterinary schools you plan to apply to. You can do that as part of any major, so pick one that appeals to you. You are also going to want to make sure you get very good grades as they are important when it comes time for you to apply.

I agree with David in that it doesn't matter where you go to school, as long as you obtain the pre-reqs. I don't agree though, that you need 4 years of college, obtain a Bachelor's degree, and apply in your senior year. A degree is not a pre-req to vet school admission, but the knowlege you gain during those extra years, and the exposure to different classes (other than pre-reqs) will definitely boost your application. But, again, not necessary. Good luck!:luck:

Research.

Look at schools you want to go to. They will tell you the courses you need to take, average stats, etc. It's really easy to find. It doesn't matter where you go to school but get amaznig grades and tons of experience.

Good luck.

As long as the community college courses meets the pre-requisites for the vet school application (www.cvm.tamu.edu for TAMU) then you can apply with the credits you got through that college.

Just curious but why don't you want to go to A&M?
