Since GPA is the only thing holding me back from getting into d-school, I have decided to start with my masters in bio....right now I'm only looking to take 2 classes and heres what the grad school is offering...I'm def going to take Pharmacology but i need one more....

Molecular biology of Euk ( i just finished taking Cell & Molecular Bio so I'm not sure if its necc for me to take again)

Cell Biology (same reason as above)

Pharmacology (gonna take it)

Physical Biochemistry (I have only taken intro to biochem in undergrad so I am contemplating on taking this...what do you guys think?)

Other then that the other classes serve no purpose right now....Thanks for the help.

Only you can choose the right course - you have to sit through the lectures and labs! Take the one that is the easiest for you.

I loved Biophysical Chemistry ... a good math background is a huge help

It mainly builds on general chemistry not on physical chemistry as you might expect.

i don't want to take the one that is easiest for me...i want a challenge...what i'm really asking is this...what classes would benefit me in the long run.... i don't want to take a class that has nothing or very little to do with what i will learn in d-school

Here is an idea: why don't you call the dental schools that you are interested in and ASK THEM what classes you should take to make you a more competitive applicant. Or, ask your pre-dental advisor at your school. At least calling them will give you a solid, helpful answer instead of the rest of us giving you our opinions. But that is just my opinion. Good luck.

DING DING DING...thats a great idea but i already did that, and thats why i'm going to take pharmacology, however i would like to take another class and I thought some others on the forum shared a similiar experience so that they could put in their 2 cents since i can't make decision.... thanks for ur input

Hi Serious,

If you get the opportunity to take Histology, Biochemistry, Human Anatomy (not Anatomy and physiology), Physiology, Neurology, Pharm is a plus, Pathology, and maybe at least an intro into Immunology... These classes are generally seen in most if not all dental school curriculums... especially in the first two years... and some in the third year... so if you can get a grip on those subjects ...in and out... you'd be in great shape... and well prepared to suceed in Dental school... thats what's important...and those are the things that make you look good on applications.
