I am a second year medical student at an osteopathic program. I was wondering if anyone here could name some allopathic teaching hospitals where I could do a great IM rotation. I don't necessarily care about national ranking. I care about how much they will let me do and how much I will learn. Therefore, if you have done a rotation in general IM at an allopathic teaching hospital that you feel was wonderful, please share your info with me. It would be a world of help. Thanx in advance.

I'd go for Stroger (formerly Cook County Hospital) if you live anywhere near Chicago. Pathology you won't likely see anywhere else (not even at the VA), many DO folks swing through during their training, and they're accustomed to having students from all over the country do rotations there.

Just be sure to apply early and be ready to deal with the bureaucratic headaches without getting too angry. :scared:

Thanx for the response Adawaal. Del taco, I guess I appreciate your deep thoughts as well. The only reason I am cross posting is because I truely need the info. I thought that perhaps I would get more accurate info by posting the same request in each forum for the specific specialties. Anyways, if anyone else has something to contribute (that is useful) I would really appreciate it. Thanx.
