Help! when should i take the pcat???????

Help! ok so i was accepted into a 6-yr.. pharmD program and will be starting college in about a week. my school, Massachusetts college of pharmacy and health sciences, doesnt require me to take the pcat since its a 6yr program and all that but i really want to transfer over to University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. i know its stupid since im already in a 6yr program but ive wanted to go there since i was ten. so i need to know when i should b taking the exam because UNC's website states that if i want admission for the fall 2010 semester i should take the pcat by oct. of 09. i was theinking id transfer over after my 2nd yr. but will i be ready to take the pcat by the oct. of my 2nd year?

it would be difficult to try to transfer directly form a 6-year PharmD program to a regular 4-year PharmD program. you have to realize that you're giving up a great opportunity in massachusetts because you think want to go to UNC. i'd say try to stay in massachusetts and see what you think about your current school before transferring. if you just stay for two years and meet the requirements, you'll be guaranteed to get a PharmD after four more years. isn't that what you really want?

few questions though. if you wanted to go to UNC, did you apply there for undergrad? if so, did you get accepted? if you did, then why didn't you go there?

i never applied for undergrad because i screwed up my high school gpa and knew that i had no chance of getting in and now that i have been here at mcp i have realized that this school is not for me at all......

ok, but consider this though

• if you leave mcphs, then you might have loans or other expenses you have already spent and taken out in going to pharmacy school
• you may not be able to transfer everything
• each 6-year pharmacy program might be structured differently so you may have to start all over from year 1 if you go to UNC
• you would be giving up an opportunity to get to know people in your class through networking, and know doctors, pharmacists, and professors from going to mcphs

you said that you screwed up your high school GPA. will they look at that when you transfer? if they do, then are you sure it will be good enough for admission?

zazzer, I don't think you actually know about the rusty chains that PCAT of an exam can throw at you.

If your high school GPA is "messed up" (according to you), and yet, somehow, you made it into a pharmacy school; I don't know about you, but that sure smells like luck to me down here.

My advice? Listen to crazybob & stick to MCPHS!

one more questions, if you "screwed up" your high school GPA and it was good enough to get you accepted to MCPHS, wouldn't it have been good enough to be considered to admission to UNC for undergrad? something doesn't make sense here.
