Henry Stickmin - Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I follow your reasoning regarding pressuring the reps vs not but I think you're making it a lot more complicated than it has to be lol. That's a lot of mental hoops to jump through that I'm sure no one, wolfy or not, precisely considered before they went to yeet Dubz. I'm yeeting Mayo for the way he followed up with his Dubz yeet, not because of the Dubz yeet itself
I mean, the complex part is just in my head for why Mayo’s vote pinged me. It’s not why I voted for Mayo. I held off voting until I saw his responses. I’m also voting for him for for the follow up.

@Zenge142 what are your thoughts on April?
Not entirely sure. There’s nothing in this game so far that I’d say is outside of her village range.

She did go from not being willing to vote for Mayo today, to voting for Mayo kind of fast, which felt a little spooky, but I can see the progression of her thoughts about it on the thread. I also thought she was a little quick to jump on sunny.

But again, neither of those two things are outside her village play, so while they make me a little nervous, I’m not wolf reading her for them yet.

Oops I did not know this started
Same here :/

Vis's entrance is weird to me too but I'm gonna hold off on that for the time being because I think she was misyeeted D1 last game
I feel like Vis’ tone being “weird” actually gives me more villager vibes. I think she was a bit more careful how she phrased things when she wolfed
How do I turn off my activity? lololol (jk)

A family that throws food at each other and then stabs each other in the back.....sometimes for a good reason.
This made me uncomfortable. I know bob is usually jokey, but this felt forced
I have been on a deep cover operation trying to infiltrate the ranks under the guise of a noob. I was sent from other forums to scout all other MU players that would be going to the championships. I am trying to keep detailed notes, but not a big deal b/c dubz obviously don't know how to play this game!😉
This also seemed like a joke that was just a bit off. Like a wolf trying a bit too hard
I'm going to vote her out if she's a wolf. Training is useless if she has plot armor.
I agree with this logic, and I think this is a solid pro-town post from Mayo
I have extras
Plus some jokiness (is that a word?) gives me village!mayo vibes
But we made it to endgame that one time we wolfed together 🤔
I don’t know if April would bring this up as a wolf.
Well I already want to yeet Cheezit off of his first post, so what's the maximum amount of people who can die per cycle? Lol
this comment seemed a bit forced, but the rest of Pippy’s posts were giving me village vibes

I've been misyeeted once in two years of being weird.

I'm getting misyeeted the first time I try to play it straight. I'm learning a lesson here, but not the one you've been hoping for.
Then the only real lesson is you're being misyeeted for a change in style/meta. That can happen when you improve. That isn't a reason not to try to play better.

Don't let meta and the fact that by definition villagers as the uninformed majority tend to play in a conservative or neophobic manner, keep you in a box where you don't play more seriously or do what you think needs done to improve your game/town's game/scum's game.

Honestly while I made a crack about you not being as jokey and the reverse psychology where the more ridic I think you are, the more I want to yeet you, the reality is that it's because it's my instinct to yeet anti-village play and not vote pro-town play, and really considering meta is the only way I can not end up misyeeting play I hate for not being "good play." To that end, I'm not yeeting you because you're being straight. I just don't yeet people for that. I don't track your logic about Dubz and some of what you've said in defense to Zenge (who also is pinging me for similar reason about tracking).

Now it feels maybe like emotional manipulation as well.

If you're village I would just stand by the fact that you're trying to take the game seriously and let the chips fall where they may, it might be an opening for wolves but then again it could be the start of a village opening on them too.

What gives you the impression I'm town?
Seems like a basic wolf move to create future protection in case they survive the threat to offer themselves.
But really not a wolf move bc it will be remembered and yeeted in D3+ if still around and no good prospects. So it puts you on a list to watch but would prefer to hunt real wolves in the present.

Are you asking generally or in this game?

Generally it’s like “Oh Luke Skywalker isn’t going to die in these movies because he’s the main character! If he dies the story is over so we know all these little skirmishes with stormtroopers are meaningless because he has ‘plot armor’.” The character is too relevant to the plot.

Mayo is using it here to say “we should be voting for Dubz to pressure her, because if we’re not pressuring her it’s a pointless game”

I think that’s a wolfy perspective.
From a setup perspective and “plot”:

Dubz is too important and can’t be a wolf.
Cray is a wolf bc good training, they should likely be separated, and counter to expectations.

Don't get me wrong -- even if I disagree with that specific reasoning, it's still totally possible he's a wolf.

I can't remember if this actually happened or if I'm exaggerating it in my head, but I think I may have strongly defended wolf!mayo in the past lol
This post is kind of scaring me (looks like it could be to defend mayo but distance self from that defence and say “oh well if he flips wolf it doesn’t mean anything about my affiliation, villagey if anything”) but I’m also feeling like it would be way too flippant and ballsy a post to make if they were w/w. I guess it could also be read as as a wolf seeding for a future misyeet of a villager.

I’m leaning towards thinking it’s too flippant and that Pippy would not have defended mayo at this point this point of they were w/w, since it’s not like he’s in imminent danger of misyeet. W/V is possible but I haven’t gotten a wolf read on Pippy (I’ve only played with village and goo Pippy, tho). So I’m reading this V/V or V/W but I want a second opinion please

Mayo isn't being jokey enough. I have a theory when I most want to yeet him he's probably town, and so maybe the reverse is true
My butt physically clenched when reading this because I’ve had this same theory and have used “ok mayo is jokey, cryptic village mayo, not serious wolf mayo” to correctly (or incorrectly, when he was village-friendly 3p) village read mayo in multiple games. But I really don’t want to trap someone into metagaming strategy of not being able to make serious, straightforward posts (since that’s strongly pro-village behaviour when they are village) because they get punished for it. My gut says strongly consider yeeting him but my heart says wait until there’s a better reason.

From a setup perspective and “plot”:

Dubz is too important and can’t be a wolf.
Cray is a wolf bc good training, they should likely be separated, and counter to expectations.
Nah. I'm sure our roles were RNG'd like anyone else's.

I'm struggling to read zenge and mayo's arguments in an unbiased way and just look at the logic because zenge's tone feels like village zenge whereas mayo does not feel like village mayo. But I also agree with the thought that I don't want to vote mayo out specifically for posting in a more serious manner out of the gate.

sunny - I need to see more reads from her. I don't think her reasoning for me works and I don't like that she hasn't said much about anything else besides the thing with Bob, which feels like a similarly flavored read.

genny - realized as I was trying to think "hmm how do I feel about genny" that I didn't have a Genny Way (TM) read on her yet despite her posting a decent amount. Worrisome. Tone feels a little off for d1 genny.

Mayo - as mentioned above, tone feels off and feels a bit like he was doubling down on something that doesn't actually matter all that much (n1 kill stuff). If that's how he truly feels about it, my apologies.

Pippy - feels weird. But, it's intentional. My brain keeps going in circles on that one.

Bread - WHERE IS HE???
jk he's sitting on my couch

zenge - as mentioned above, posts about mayo feel like village zenge posts. Feels like better involvement than he's had d1 as scum.

vis - I like her posts so far, need to look back to see who said she sounded weird (was it genny?) because I didn't really feel that

Everyone else is sitting in neutrals or too little data right now. I think I missed some stuff about Bob, but from what I saw of his posts I haven't been particularly bothered?

I tried not to use meta so much because that won't be helpful for champs but, well...

From a setup perspective and “plot”:

Dubz is too important and can’t be a wolf.
Cray is a wolf bc good training, they should likely be separated, and counter to expectations.
But the game is to help both if them get practice so either can be on either side. So we should no assume one way or another just because of the purpose of the game.

It's probably the first time I've ever not opened with a joke vote, lesson learned. The same people who repeatedly asked for a less lulzy mayo are the ones who complain when I'm more serious.

Sow the wind...
Ugh, basically this is why I really don’t want to vote mayo for this. I don’t like trapping someone into forever having to use the same village posting strategy, especially if that strategy is “avoid serious and clear posts”.

I don’t get it and also don’t like Bob answering for sunny

I am going to take back my joke vote now and try and decide on a serious vote before I hit the road and probably get home after yeet close.

The wolves love the selfinflicted sus. Throws the topic off of them. Sets someone up to be yeet’d that they don’t have to NK.

I always hear Genny as blunt which I love. It’d be disappointing if that is just in my head
I’ve read this post so many times trying to figure out who you’re casting as the wolf enjoying the villagers making their own misyeet... cray? genny? Or are you saying anyone involved in this exchange you’re reading v because the wolves want to stand back and let village dirty their hands with a misyeet?

Is zenge always touchy about any wolf-reads? (Serious question) This type of touchiness worries me as how I would react as a wolf.
It... might be a bit of a sore spot after his last stand as the only villager not drinking the kool-aid in emojis. Not saying it’s a villagey response but it’s not reading wolfy to me.

From a setup perspective and “plot”:

Dubz is too important and can’t be a wolf.

Idk if this is just a joke about how it would go if this were a TV show, but in case you’re serious: there is no world in which AM compromises the srs bznz of champs prep by loading the role/affiliation dice

It... might be a bit of a sore spot after his last stand as the only villager not drinking the kool-aid in emojis. Not saying it’s a villagey response but it’s not reading wolfy to me.
To be fair, it was very delicious kool-aid :heckyeah:

Then the only real lesson is you're being misyeeted for a change in style/meta. That can happen when you improve. That isn't a reason not to try to play better.

This isn't an attempt at improvement, nor do I think my gameplay is in particular need of improvement. I win far more than I lose playing the way I play. I'm usually alive at the end to enjoy it too.

The tone change is because I thought we were trying to simulate MU to make you guys better prepared. As I understand it they take the game very seriously and are unlikely to have pigeon poetry. I was attempting to simulate that with my tone and votes.

I do enjoy the irony of you and April being the first to jump on me, since you've been two of the loudest critics of my normal playstyle.

From a setup perspective and “plot”:

Dubz is too important and can’t be a wolf.

It's RNG, but the plot armor would matter either way.

Mayo - as mentioned above, tone feels off and feels a bit like he was doubling down on something that doesn't actually matter all that much (n1 kill stuff). If that's how he truly feels about it, my apologies.

I think you answered the first part in the second part. I'm legitimately frustrated by having signed up for something that is not what I thought it was.

Zenge is being wolfy. So he is asking a possible wolf’s thoughts on players to see if he will protect or throw sus in case he flips wolf. Just a guess
Again answering for other people. I’d usually read it as either a deliberate pocketing attempt or an unadvised pre-emptive defence of a packmate. With Bob being so new, though, it seems just as if not more likely to be rookie-villager eager to solve peoples’ motivations (and if it is - Bob, I advise you let people answer their own questions. When someone addresses someome specific, there’s a reason, and having someone else reply first - supplying the someone with a response that makes sense to at least one villager - kind of messes with its value as a reaction test)

Totally breaking my post up since I have to head out soon.

Think there might be something between Zenge and Mayo but I am feeling like Mayo is most likely to be a villager. Mayo does a feel a little less like regular Mayo but he does seem to take this as more of a prep game rather than just a run of the mill game serious. And maybe jumping away from metas is the best thing we can do.

Ugh, basically this is why I really don’t want to vote mayo for this. I don’t like trapping someone into forever having to use the same village posting strategy, especially if that strategy is “avoid serious and clear posts”.

The whole theory is based on the assumption that I'm somehow the only one in the game who doesn't know my village meta is lulzy and wouldn't be clever enough to remember to be a lulzy wolf.

I need to think about this. For now I’ll

Unyeet Mayo

He was very defensive D1 on his first wolf outing so I'm keeping that in mind as part of his meta. Here it's crossing me more as being flippant rather than overly defensive the way he said "but okay genny" and let the conversation drop whereas I distinctly remember when he was first wolfing, he drew out an aggressive defense for a long time even when people were trying to drop it

I will go with voting Zenge for now and maybe I can get some reading in while taking breaks.

###yeet zenge###
Is this the vote you plan to stay on or is it just an "eh feels for now, prob change later" vote? Are you reading mayo village?

I need ****ing memes smh my phone rn
I just threw something across the room.

I can't handle yet another player begging for death D1

Are we like getting burnt out from almost 6 months of back to back games or something?
Mayo was asking for mod smiting rather than to be voted off the island at least

Oooh I do not like this post and am tempted to yeet you for it.
