High Point University Workman School of Dental Medicine Class of 2029 Interview/Acceptance Thread

Hi guys, has anyone heard about the recent interview? How was it going? And any new news?

Anyone go to their recent interview? Any details?
It’s been crickets 🦗 lately

Probably about 200 ppl or so still on the waitlist. They interviewed approximately 275 so far and about 30 have been accepted
Where did you get this info? I’m on active reserve and asked for a meeting to discuss why I wasn’t accepted and they replied that I had all the qualities to be accepted hence I’m on active reserve. That didn’t make me feel better.

I heard from an applicant attending the February interview that it is on 2/21, which I think is pretty late considering they were going to stop interviews in December. We might not hear anything until after that interview session. :/
Is it a real interview in Feb? I interviewed last year in Feb but it was only for a chance to be on the waitlist bc the class had already been chosen. It was informative and prepared me for my interview this year though.

Did they tell you this there? Or on the email?

Does anyone know if the admission team accepts letter of intent or an academic update?

Interviewed back on 01.13 was sent a rejection today via email. A bit surprising, but everything happens for a reason. Good luck to everyone!!!

You meant they sent the rejection letters to applicants who interviewed in January 13?

They’ve been interviewing since June and accepted people and waitlisted a huge group in December. People being accepted and declined from waitlist too. It is very surprising they were doing interviews in January and again in February.

Not sure about others but I got the rejection lol I was shocked it was so fast. Like damn, y'all really hated my vibe lmao

Both. Also people in my waitlist group me got rejection letters today, so it’s really odd to have Feb interviews. Sounds like they’re already weeding out the waitlist.
Hi! I was wondering when did you interview? Not sure if admin team is going in order for rejections based on interview dates

In August. I have not been rejected and when I inquired about setting up a date to go over why I wasn't accepted I was told I am on active reserve and I have all the qualities they are looking for. People in this forum said they interviewed in January and received a rejection 2 weeks later. People in my waitlist group me from both July and Sept have received rejections in the last week. In this forum people have mentioned only 33/60 accepted so far. So who knows ......

Hi did you email them regarding why you weren't accepted recently like after the interview?

I’m gonna give my two cents (as someone that went through all of this last year and was placed on active reserved)

I believe when they say that “you have all the qualities we look for in a student” to people that are on active reserve they are not necessarily lying. HOWEVER. The chances of being accepted from the list are slim. From my understanding, the active reserve list is a list of waitlisted candidates that would be used to replace accepted candidates that decline their acceptance to balance ratio.

For example:

A male African American student that had a 3.5 undergrad biology degree and masters degree was accepted but decided to decline the offer. They will scan their active reserve list for a candidate that is the same gender/race that possesses similar stats and possibly extend an acceptance offer to the waitlisted candidate.

Make sense?

So you think the class is already full? I spoke to someone who got accepted and they told me that as of now, 40 ppl are on the group me group of students who have been accepted? Also, when did you interview last year?

This is a very confusing process. Doesn’t make sense the class isn’t full, yet the waitlist is very long, some people are being rejected from the waitlist, but interviews are ongoing.

No I don’t think the class is full. I believe they are still interviewing and making decisions. I was explaining why I believe the chances of being accepted from said waitlist are slim.

Honestly in my opinion high point is a joke of a program right now regarding admissions. Maybe after a few cycles they will get their act together and gain the ability to provide a transparent, and professional experience but as of now all they have done is over promise and under deliver. I wouldn’t waste your energy worrying about being accepted there.

Have you heard anything? Or still on the waitlist?

I interviewed back in August and have now been waiting over 6 months for an admission decision. I am EC and have a casper score of a 4, gpa 3.6, and three minors on top of BS biology. All the classes they recommended I have taken. And I am still waitlisted.
