Hmm idk if I’d say 517+ are all the same. I have a friend who basically has the same app (gpa, research, pubs, ECs) but he has a 518 and so far he’s received 3 II. I think at the top schools they differentiate between 524+ and 520under
I advise people to stop focusing on single metrics.

I believe high MCAT people also deserve some acknowledgment. I can’t stand people saying oh it’s all luck and blah blah. I also challenge all the adcoms here to say did you prepare for the MCAT yourself and what would you score on it? Seriously it’s so easy to TALK about something from the perspective of an evaluator.
I took it back in the day when it was still graded on a two digit scale. Converted to the current scale it would be >>518. People don't get ultra high MCAT scores based on luck alone, but once someone get these ultra high scores, whether they obtain a 518 vs 520 vs 522 comes down more to chance than knowledge. The confidence interval for a single attempt is at least a few points if not more.

Oh no now the adcoms have joined in the humble bragging.

😉

I applaud you coming forth! Yes, I don’t argue the element of luck. But it’s really obnoxious when someone comes along and says oh it’s ALL luck.

Really not sure how you got that from what I said.

You said "...but I believe high MCAT people also deserve some acknowledgment." in reference to someone not necessarily being more impressed by a 526 than a 521. So it seems you were frustrated that laymen (and adcoms) don't make that distinction.

Honestly, I don't know why this thread was even worth creating. We already have the Interview Day Food Thread!
