I've read in various threads that Hofstra has agreements with legitimate hospitals for clinical rotations and residency match. Can't find anything on a search though.

I'm considering adding Hofstra to my AMCAS, but I'm not sure if it's a safe bet to make in terms of accreditation and the future of the school.

Anyone have any information about it?

I went to the interview and it really seems like a place with a lot of potential. You can go to last year thread and ask the current students whatever questions you may have.

Thanks. I guess I'm looking for someone to convince me to add it to my AMCAS.

They haven't even graduated a class yet, I would be skeptical about a school until you can see at least 1 match list. Remember your buying something worth 200-250k USD

You mean graduate, right? I believe they will matriculate their second or third class this fall.

MedPR, I just finished my first year at Hofstra.

There are no "agreements" with hospitals for rotations.
The North Shore-LIJ Health System owns the school and operates it. It is one of the largest health care systems in the country. By being a medical student, you are part of the system.

There are more than a dozen hospitals on Long Island in the system with more being added, both in NYC and on LI. Third and fourth year rotations are in North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. There is a dedicated psychiatric hospital, Zucker Hillside.

There is no shortage of clinical sites for students and the system is doing well financially.

Feel free to PM me if you have other questions.

Do you mean North Shore-LIJ? It's one of the most respectable hospital systems in the region.

Definitely add. It's a beautiful school, and you can be sure they wouldn't be investing the any millions of dollars unless they were pretty darn sure they have a good plan for accreditation.

Oh, and they have sick financial aid options. Like school loans which do not begin accruing interest until 4 YEARS AFTER GRADUATION.
