Holding a spot

How does it work...on May 1 (or is it May 15) does a person who is holding more than one spot contact each school and release his/her spot at every school but one? Additionally, when a school contacts you about accepting a spot off their waitlist (after the May date), how long do you have to decide (on the spot, one day, one week, etc...)

students holding more than one acceptance are supposed to make a decision by May 15, I'm not sure yet if you are supposed to w/draw by letter or what. I'll probably send a letter to the one I am not going to (probably way before May 15). About the waitlists, some people are pulled off as late as during orientation, so obviously those people have to decide pretty quickly. Other than that, I don't know how long you have to decide; it might depend on the school and on how close it is before classes start.
