How many of you are going back home for the Christmas break?

And also, for the freshmen, how do you re-adjust to being home again? I haven't seen my family (except for during Thanksgiving break, but they came here, not vice versa) all year, so I'm not too keen about seeing them again. Is the readjustment a pain in the ass again? I'm just sick of their rules and conceptions of "proper" manners--sooo not something I want to head back to for a "relaxing" break.

Also, any fun plans?

Going on a trip with the rents my first week back and then catching up on sleep for the rest of the month once I get back home.

So far I always liked going home, all my old friends and family are there and the familiarity will be nice to have after the next two weeks of intense schooling.

Freshman year in undergrad was the worst in terms of being with my parents because there's still a bit of that "you're living under my roof" (even though technically I wasn't anymore) vs. "I'm a rebellious teen" relationship. As the years went on our relationship changed, and now that I live on the opposite end of the country, I'm really looking forward to staying with them for 2 weeks.

I have to go home for holiday break because the dorms close so no one can come out or go in. I went home for Thanksgiving and it felt weird.

Yeah, I'm going home for Christmas, but I have to come back here the day before to move into another apartment.

Awesome plans over break, though. A concert in Nashville, going bowling, and then New Years Conference in Nashville.

I'm sure some sort of New Years party after that.

Oh & yeah, that's how it was to me, too. I actually kind of miss my family sometimes now.

I'm going to be house-sitting/dog-sitting for a family friend for 10 days, and studying for the MCAT, haha! Atleast my sister will be back home, it's always nice to see her again (she's my twin, we're attached lol)

schrizto, I'm in the same situation. While I wish I could come back and visit my family for a week or so, I have to stay with them for a month because the dorms all close for the Christmas break! 🙁

It's just that push-pull of being under their roof, as silverhorse84 mentioned, that I don't like. Hopefully it will go away once I get into an apartment next academic year, because I hate having to be under their jurisdiction for an entire four weeks. But visiting with friends and cousins and everything for the Christmas break will be a blast, I hope! 🙂

going back "home" (to be with my wife), not to my parent's house

not sure what the concern over manners and such is. did you forget how to live by rules in the last 4 months?

I get along so much better with my parents when I only see them once a month! Instead of yelling at me to do laundry, wash cars, pull weeds they let me do what I want. They let me lounge around, take me shopping and even do my laundry 😱 They even bribe me to come home more often. 😍

I'm a freshman this year and I am excited to head home for the break. My parents and I get along very well so I don't have to worry about getting into fights with them. I have 8 siblings, some of whom I haven't seen in quite and while. I also get to see my nephew; he's pretty much my favorite person ever.

I can definitely see why some people don't want to head home, especially considering they felt so free at college, but I never really felt restricted at my house

I do know that I am going to be missing all of my friends from college (none of our hometowns are very close), but we plan on meeting up once during winter break.
