New here, I just need some clarity if possible. I am going to Hopkins, they have given me a "full tuition and expenses" merit award. My question is does that include housing ? I have not received any packet yet, just recently accepted their offer this past Friday and spoke to them on the phone and she said Tuition and Expenses. Have not received packet yet.

This is just an awful situation. I'm so sorry you have to be in that position.

lol only 8 out of 11? hope you get a 250 on step one so you can have a chance at a residency

I would think not. Im sure its probably just a check for books and such. Just curious what school s did you get into?

Anshutz, UW, Columbia, UCSF, UCLA, Cornell/Weill, Hopkins, Georgetown

Whoa, what the h does that mean anyway? I am still a bit overwhelmed and was very worried that I would not be going because of finances, still a bit shocked at the money and scholarships and it has actually been an overwhelming decision. Any advice for first year?

I wonder if people feel silly inside when making these posts and reading the responses.

Congrats on the (very serious) 1st world problems.

You're lucky that you didn't have to use the word rescind in a proper context in any of your applications.

what an awful predicament
Hmmm, perhaps this board was a bad idea. I did not mean to come off the way I obviously did. I am so sorry. I made the wrong assumption, ha, first mistake. Not a dime to my name and after parents paying for undergrad and grad school I am at the end there. I was actually shocked that this "predicament" came about. I was convinced that after all my hard work I would never be able to afford Med School. I was and I am still surprised and extremely grateful for the honor to be accepted and for the financial awards. I never expected this and was nervous that this dream of mine would end because of the housing situation possibly not being covered. I thought that this board was a good place to air my concerns, and also thought that I was in the company of other med students that would earnestly offer some advice. So I have misrepresented my self here. My mistake. I did not mean to come off boastful or arrogant, I only wanted an answer. Blessings to all. Oh and thank you for the spelling advice, nicely done.

Yes, regrets are many but learning from this is grand. It was late, I am exhausted, and obviously my street smarts have left the building. As well as my spelling. It's all good however, question has been answered.

Is there an exit off of this board?

Yes, got that. My bad, I meant is there a way to close my account permanently, as in delete...?

You can submit a request through the help desk to close your account.
However, SDN does not usually delete posts of people who simply regret their posts.

You should contact the school and clarify the issue.

Thanks, my reason is not regret, just want to close it up because I do not think it is the place for the information I wanted. Too many snarky and silly responses. I do regret coming off arrogant or boastful, that is not me at all. Just wanted some advice.

I wouldn't walk around calling these "scholarships" because they're most likely financial aid packages (i.e. not based on merit). Not many of those schools give out merit scholarships, and if you're good enough to land a full ride to JHU I would have expected you to get into 11/11 med schools.

New here so hope I am posting to the correct board. I just need some clarity if possible. I got into 8 out of 11 Med Schools, all offered a great variety of money. I have chosen Hopkins, they have given me a "full tuition and expenses" My question is does that include housing ? I have not received any packet yet, just recently accepted their offer this past Friday and spoke to them on the phone and she said Tuition and Expenses. Anyone? Ugh, a little nervous and frustrated.

yes, but only up to a rent level of $7000/month. you also have access to the school's king air. sorry, your mcat wasn't good enough to get the jet. thanks for asking this on the internet because if you had called to ask, they surely would have rescinded your entire offer for arrogance.
