How accurate is the mean GPA/DAT on predents and this board anyways. By that I mean is it really representative of the average applicant's chances at being admitted into a DS?

For instance, average for BU is 3.3 on the handbook but 3.55ish on predents. I know the people who post on this forum tend to have higher grades and do better on DAT than the rest of the population, so may that be the case?

I would say the stats on predents would be a tad bit higher considering that those who use the site are a little more conscious of what's out there than probably the average applicant. I would also say the same thing about what's posted here on SDN. I don't think either is truelove a great sample of the entire application pool.

I would suggest looking at that official numbers that are released by the ADEA each year for each school. Keep in mind that the general trend over the past few years is that each cycle has gotten a little more competitive so adjust those scores accordingly.

Predents is certainly not representative of the entire population of applicants and matriculates; I'd estimate that about 1/3 of the applicants actually use predents.com.

I would use the site as more of a rough approximation than the actual numbers.

the increase in competitiveness is definitely true. I was looking at the acceptance gpas and dats for 2003 and the requirements increase by as much as 0.4 since that time!!! :scared:

friends, we need to build a time machine. nevermind post-bacc or studying for the DAT

Yup and some people might round up their GPA..i.e 3.83 oh lets' make it 3.9ish...and it adds up

~1000/12000+ put their stats on predents
~<1500/4500 share their scores &GPA & acceptances on these boards...

Hi guys, I actually had a related question, in regards to the ADA published data.

It says that there were ~12,000 applicants....but when I add up all the applicants individually by schools, its like 120,000 applicants.

Did they forget a zero? or am I missing something?

or may be an applicant applies more than one school 😉 you were not serious when you asked this question, right ???

ohhh wow, hahahaha. Ok, that makes perfect sense.

and yes, sadly, i was serious. haha

No, its not representative and without being able to run the actual numbers there is no way to tell if it is ACCURATE, although I would feel comfortable in saying its somewhat accurate and I use somewhat very loosely.
