How am I doing so far?

Hi everyone,

I am a sophomore at a university and my overall GPA is a 3.85 (not quite sure how to calculate sGPA, sorry 😳) My grades in the pre-reqs so far are:

Bio 1 & lab: A/A
Bio 2 & lab: A/A
Chem 1 & lab: A/A
Chem 2 & lab: A-/A-
Organic 1 & lab: A-/A
Organic 2 & lab: B+/A
Calculus 1: A-
Calculus 2: A
Genetics & Lab: A/A

Next semester I am taking biochem, and then I believe all I have left for prereqs are physics and upper level bio. This summer I am going to assist/shadow at a local dentist's office. I need to also get some volunteer hours under my belt at some point. I would really love to gain acceptance to one of the Boston schools (BU and Tufts......or Harvard🙄) but of course I would be grateful for an acceptance anywhere so I am trying to stay as competitive as possible.

How am I looking so far and what can I improve upon? Thank you very much for any help! 🙂

Improve upon? IMPROVE UPON?!?!?! You think you can be a dentist while having one B+? Not a chance....

And whats with all the A-'s ?????

ahhhh..this is a tough on. a B+ in orgo 2 is a red flag. Adcoms usually like seeing atleast an A- in specifically organic chemistry 2. I would say you might have to retake ORGANIC 2.

You are doing GREAT! Just keep up the hard work and get As in the upper level bio classes. It's good your doing shadowing this summer. When the DAT rolls around, just own that baby! 👍👍

I'm hardly an "over-achiever," I did alright in high school and put in a lot of hard work in college so far and it has paid off.

Because this forum is for advice and questions and that is what I was asking, what else can I do to make myself as competitive as I can be, and just to get opinions. I didn't see anything wrong with that and don't get why people are so hostile towards it, that is the entire purpose of this board.

I agree with these 2 gents. You are hopeless unless you score 30 on your DAT. 29 is ok. 28 is a retake.

There is really no advice or questions for someone getting all A's...we can't really advise you to do better.
