I really don't think I can get an A anymore in my Bio class. I got an 89%, 86% and I think I might have gotten a mid 80's% on today's test. We go by a traditional grading scale so I don't know if I'll make the 90% cut for an A! :scared: I already got a B in my chem classes. How screwed am I!?! :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

One grade will not do you in. Continue to work hard and you will see the result. Good luck!

You're right, I deserved those B grades because I didn't study as much as I could have. I just hope I can recover in time. Damn it why am I such a worry wart!?!?!?!?!?! :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

I have a C on my transcript. sophomore year, no extenuating circumstances. and several Bs. and several interviews. dont sweat it. keep your head up and aim at least for a B+.

I am being real!!! I haven't taken O-chem yet and I heard those classes are the hardest out of the premed classes!! I rather hurt my GPA with O-chem than with silly things such as Bio!!!!! 😱 ISn't that the general logic followed by most pre-meds?

it really depends... what was your SAT score???...

pardon my language but what kind of B**CH attitude is that? Never give up! EVER!!! EVER! Life will kill you if you start giving up now. I would rather stick it out now than get paid 45k to get sh*ted on by two bit stupid monkey who I hope to become five year from now. Work force sucks bigtime.

Go to hell! Stop whining and start studying! Seriously!

wow, so you are worried about one B? Seriously chill out. There is a reason that the average accepted gpa is a 3.5 (ill give you a hint, its because people get B's, C's and *gasp* even D's). I recommend that you calm down, grab a beer and just enjoy college without freaking out too much about your grades.

ok... then you need to scrap next semester's schedule and do something to the effect of this:
1) o-chem
2) yoga
3) a class about beer or beer-making. (this could also help you with o-chem lecture and lab)
4) P.E.

i'm joking, but you get my point: if you keep this attitude up, 1) you will crack at any point in time and it won't be pretty and 2) you will have no friends. no one will like you. you will be miserable throughout your college years. then your social skills will decline, which will reflect your potential as a doctor especially when it comes to interviews.

then ask yourself "how am i not myself?" (i <3 huckabees reference). remember. you are NOT "a pre-med." you are a real person, who happens to be pursuing a medical career. there's a difference. so chill... a B is a-ok! just don't have a string of B's for two semesters straight or something

edit: oh, and the answer to your question is no... bio does not really weigh more than o-chem. if there are more units/college credits assigned to your o-chem class than to bio, then that will weigh more. in the end, when schools check out your transcript, they will look at your bcpm. meaning they'll look at all of those pre-med courses as a whole on its own, as well as your overall. some schools even ask you to fill out a bcpm page on their secondaries (which is irritating seeing that it's already all on your amcas).

:luck:

I don't konw original poster, most people who have a B in biology don't ever become a physician. I would quit now while you are ahead and become an animal lover instead. Or an expert in microorganisms?

😱

Keep in mind that there's more to a pre-med applicant than their GPA.

Besides, it looks like you're in the B+ range, which is a 3.3 and not bad at all!

B's are very detrimental. You will not get into a decent med school with B's. You need to get all A's like me.

hah! i have like 6 C's on my transcript.

but i got accepted to a med school anyway due to a kickass MCAT score and published papers. there's much more to your application than whether you got all A's or not.

How do people freak out over a B+? I have plenty of BCPM classes as B (three) and B- (one) and even a C+ (one).

have you considered the caribbean schools?

You're going to have to go DO, or Caribbean.

Also, parent's do not love children who get Bs, so you'll probably have to find a new set of those while you're busy filling out all those osteopathic applications.

You act like you're failing. Think of the other people in your class that would kill to have that B. Study hard, and do your best. If you get an A, then great. If not, then just move on with your life. There is nothing wrong with B's (a B is still considered above-average). Take one step at a time and focus on what you're doing now rather than stressing about O-chem, a class that you aren't even in yet!

I was worried this semester that I may finish with 4 Bs and 1 A. Although, I am living in an awful dorm which I plan to move out of before next semester. Also, I am probably only giving about 30%. So yeah, I know I am not even giving my best, and I have 4 Bs and 1 A in my 1st semester. The thing that scares me is if I actually give it my all and still get Bs. Havent tried it yet 😉

I always aim for C's otherwise my friends would call me nerdy

Chris:
Quit being a slacker and get on it! From what I can tell, you seem to be a good student, and you seem like you have a reasonable goal of getting into medical school. Now... Giving 30% isn't good enough. If you can get straight A's and you're not because you're not putting much effort in it, then you're just wasting your time and money. No, school's not everything, but if you're just sitting there, picking your nose and getting B's, then you're going to look back and be disappointed that you didn't do what you really could've done. Stop it. Go get the grades that truly reflect what you can accomplish. (There, that's your lecture from me for the day.)

OP: A B's not going to kill you. (I need to take my own advise and listen to that though, because my first B is going to be in Biology, and that's just freaking me out.) Anyway. You're fine. Just keep working hard and do the best you can do!

Asherlauph you just motivated me to do my work for today.

OP: Are you getting enough sunlight? I'd post a link to a Canadian site for xanax without a prescription, but that'd get me put on some FBI watch list. CHILL.

Good! Now if only I could be motivated myself. I mean, I'm motivated for school... but this work business... yuck!

You Must Get An 'A' In Organic Chemistry!

Admission Committees Frown ( 🙁 ) Upon Anything Less Than An 'A'!

Serious.

lol. i've been there before. the whole getting good grades to them seems worthless.

How were you able to explain to them about the grades that you received. What was your GPA if you don't mind?

What a revival of old thread, most of applicants barely started school then.
