Basically on Mondays, we have our department case presentation (Peds) from 7-8 and didactics for med students from 8-12.
I left case presentation at 730 to go to a research meeting because our abstract is due soon.
I was hoping for the meeting to take just 30min because I had everything ready but it took close to an hr and I ended up getting to didactics at 8:30
Just my luck, my clerkship director was the attending leading the didactics that Monday..............

I don't know..... I told her what happened and apologized but I still feel bad

Otherwise, I've getting really good feedbacks from chiefs and attendings (ie. professional, reliable, function like an intern, etc)

What do you guys think I should do next?
Should I offer to do extra assignment on topics related to that didactics?

Everyone is late to didactics at some point or another - if you're tied up doing a procedure, talking to a patient's family, etc. Apologize and try not to do it again, but your clerkship director should understand that it's hard to always be on time to things in the unpredictable world of the hospital. Unless you really got a vibe from her that your reason for being late was unacceptable, you shouldn't need to do extra work to make up for it.

NERD ALERT.

No one cares, you're just a med student.

I second this.

We routinely have med students rotating through my program, and they typically work most closely with the interns. 90% of the time I have no idea where my student is or what they are doing. All I care is that they see the patients, round with me, present well during attending rounds, and write good notes. Beyond that, I figure learning is up to you. I have enough to keep me occupied without keeping a close eye on the studs.

Basically, I'm saying you're not as important as you think you are.

You should probably call a psych consult for yourself. I'm sure your attending will be impressed with your initiative.
