Hello,

I am an unsuccessful applicant for UNC Chapel Hill for the second time. Both rejections were post II.

I haven't received interview offers from other schools because, I suspect, my academic sanctions of permanent suspension resulting from three counts of plagiarism.

I also suspect that the only reason I keep getting II from UNC Chapel Hill was because I finished strong in their premed summer program (MED program).

I tried reaching out for post-rejection feedback from UNC Chapel Hill but my request kept getting delayed and never happened.

Should I keep applying? I really feel lost and am mentally exhausted.

Thank you.
Were these 3 counts of plagiarism caught at the same time? or did you continue to do so after a reprimand?

At the same time.

Could you clarify how your school defines a permanent suspension and how it differs from a dismissal?

If you are suspended, this implies, at least to me, that you have not graduated. Could you also clarify that?

Plagiarism is a major concern, and even though it was all found at once, you were caught with not just 1 instance, but 3 instances of it.

What is your GPA and MCAT?

I really hate to be the one who would ever suggest not pursuing something you want to do, but with your academic history that you present, and two completely unsuccessful cycles with your only II being the same school each time that even you are attributing to completing that particular schools premed MED program with no acceptance or even waitlist offer either year and without any feedback, that continuing to apply will be expensive with little chance of return on that expense.

I guess a permanent suspension is similar to a dismissal? I had a chance to appeal the suspension which i successfully did after spending around 4 years doing volunteering and part time jobs. I was reinstated and I graduated. My undergrad gpa is 2.7 and my post bacc gpa of 30 credits of science courses is 4.0. My mcat is 518.

While the incident may be a big part of not hearing back and getting II, a 2.7 GPA at 120+ credits followed up with 30 credits at 4.0 will still likely have you at no higher than a 3.0 cGPA. Having that 3.0 or less is a big factor as well.

I have thought of that too but I also hear from medical students at UNC that since I got an II that means my grades are good enough so the issue isn't my grades. If getting masters in physiology what helps my chances I would totally go for it.
I appreciate your replies.

I don't know if med students play that much of a role in admisssions decisions compared to faculty and those who screen your application. I'm a little surprised you got a second look after your suspension. Something's an issue, and for the most part, faculty are extremely wary of anyone who gets caught after the first offense (in my experience). It's going to take some serious maturity and contrition as well as a very strong look in the mirror.
