How common is it for schools to offer acceptances for the following year?

Just wondering how often it happens that applicants are put on a wait list and offered acceptances for the following year (for example, because the class is full the current year) any info would be appreciated, thanks !

I don't think schools do that... The waitlist doesn't roll over.

Some DO schools do it. They place you on a waitlist and guarantee you a spot in the following class. I received the following from ATSU-KCOM and I know several other schools that do it: "Congratulations! You have been approved for acceptance to the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine pending the availability of a seat.... We are offering you a guaranteed acceptance for classes beginning in July of 2016."

If you look through old school threads you can figure out which ones do it and which don't.

Nebraska does this. Not sure it happens every year but it happens often enough.

If memory serves me correctly, I think I read somewhere that Pikeville has done that before too.

Doesn't happen at my school. People are waitlisted for good reasons (well, most of the time).

WVSOM technically does this as well. This is for those few that are on the wait list (only for certain people I mean), but are not able to get a seat for the current year's class. Those that they choose off the wait list, will be offered a seat for the following year. It is not a direct acceptance by any means, but an indirect one from the wait list.

I think KYCOM does it too
Yeah. I think it's at schools that don't have a waitlist until late in the cycle so it's people who are just as competitive.
When I interviewed in December there wasn't a chance for waitlist, just accept/reject/hold. So people interviewing now that the class is almost at capacity get accepted into next year's class with the possibility of moving up.

It went past capacity beyond 2/7. All people apply to KYCOM are now interviewing for 2020 and will get seats for 2019 when they open up.
