How do I determine approx percentile from my NBDE Part I mock test score?

I am planning on taking NBDE Part I in December and started my preparation today. I took a mock test to figure out where I stand and scored 287 out of 400. I am not particularly happy but I just realized that I need to put in more efforts.

At this point, I am not sure how to interpret this score (very bad, bad, ok). Can someone tell me how to get the rough percentile using this score?

These are only approximations. Your actual percentile will depend on how well you did, and how well the others who were giving the exam at around the same time did.

250/ 400 = 75 percentile (needed to pass)
300/ 400 =83-85 percentile
330+ = 90 and + percentile.

Thank you very much for your reply. This is really useful as it tells me how much to prepare. If it is not too much to ask, are these approximations based on your experience or is there a source from the NBDE source that can be used to derive these? Thank you once again for your time.

Hey,

No, these are not from any official source. They are just based on approximations that me and my friends derived after deducing a relation of the raw scores and the percentiles of friends who gave the exam at around the same time. They will definitely tend to change as time passes by🙂
