how do i withdraw respectfully?
Started by zempa
I want to withdraw for interviews scheduled in less then a week
Just let them know you respectfully decline the interview. They will not care and will want to know as soon as possible so they can schedule someone else. Honestly, you can do it by phone or e-mail, it's not a huge deal either way. Obviously the phone is better form, but your not going there anyways so do whatever you feel more comfortable with.
let's say someone withdraws from an interview the day before or two days before. Is there any communication between schools that could potentially hurt the applicant?
No, the administration has better things to do then try and seek revenge for someone withdrawing from an interview. Though please do let them know, don't just fail to show up. That is unfair to other applicants who may have taken that spot.
Dear (School),
Thank you for your interest in me as a candidate for matriculation at your medical school. I have submitted secondary applications to several schools, and endeavored to evaluate each with the utmost care and consideration. It is with great disappointment that I inform you that I will not be selecting you as the medical school I will attend.
Please understand that this is not a reflection of you as a school, but rather the quality and competitiveness of the group of schools to which I have applied. I wish you every success in your future efforts.
Sincerely,
You.
EDIT: Oh, shiznit. Less than a week? Call tomorrow morning, be honest, but more importantly, be apologetic.

Yeah, give them a call. You probably don't want to show up because it's expensive and you're no longer interested. Maybe someone can fill the spot or the interviewer will have some time off.
