I've tried searching for the answer to this question on here (probably not as thoroughly as I should have) but I didn't find the answer I was looking for. How do nonscience majors find research outside of summer research programs? Is ANY kind of research okay or does it have to be a certain kind of research?

Depending on your school, there might be research opportunities that are available to students regardless of major.
But for me, I got my research experience just by cold emailing a bunch of professors and places and hoped for the best.
Granted, I did it for a summer back home and got an opportunity so that way when I did the same thing on campus, it was MUCH easier.
I'm a philosophy major btw.

the same way science majors find research. Look on the biology department website and email a ton of professors and ask.
