How do you know a school's DAT cutoff?

I see people on SDN saying that some schools have a cutoff of 16 for any section of the DAT. Where is this information found? Is it hearsay?

My scores go:
AA 20
TS 21
BIO 20
GC 23
OC 20
RC 21
PAT 23
QR 15:scared:

Is it possible that my app is going to get passed at some schools because of that QR? Anyone know which specific schools filter out low QRs?

ADEA handbook has some info, but nothing is better than calling/emailing the school directly.

Some schools have a cutoff, but its not rigid. For example, my friend at one dental school says the class average for QR was ~15 and he himself had a 16 on the PAT, but the school made an exception for him. The best thing to do is call each school individually and ask. See if they will make an exception in your case as well. It is the least important section and most schools will look past it.

According to the 2011 ADEA guide, the UW accepted someone with a 15 PAT and someone with a 16 QR... Should be good news for you 👍 Just let me know what schools are curious about and I can look them up for you in the ADEA guide if you want. 🙂

I would just call and ask.

I've also heard that if all you scores are decent and one is really low for some reason, they just pretty much throw it out. One of the students at UTDB who was kind of involved with the admissions committee at the school said this.

I would take the low end of DAT/GPA ranges as suspect since those could very well be legacies with serious connections. I would assume a normal applicant's stats would need to be closer to the average.
