How early do I need to register for MCATs??

My family's annual income is sub 30K, and it is difficult for me to come up with the 200 something dollars to register for the exam.


I'm planning to take it around April~
I was wondering, how early do I have to realistically register for the exam?

Also, are there programs to help me pay for this thing?

You can apply for the FAP ( http://www.aamc.org/students/applying/fap/ ). You should try to register as early as possible. When I tried to register 75 days before my summer MCAT most locations were closed (although they probably opened up much closer to the actual exam day), so I'd say you should try to register in January to be on the safe side.

I would register by mid Jan.....ask for it for Christmas!!
