how effective is audio osmosis?

Hey, i'm using AO along with the 10-week EK study schedule (i modified it somewhat to fit my circumstances, given that i'm taking a heavy load this semester) and find it very helpful so far. I can listen to it between classes, right before I go to sleep, etc. However, the key is, at least for me, to listen to the lecture once all the way through...then next, to critically read and maybe take notes, then lastly to listen to as many times as possible to patch up whatever gray areas that i might have (i think this is suggested by EK as well).

BUT, i would argue that it's a "complete study package" as advertised....you kinda need to heavily supplement it with the EK materials in order to get the score you're lookin for. Though for me, it really cements the ideas/concepts presented in the books...hope that helped

I agree.

AO is most helpful when you have a job/volunteer position where you can listen to your MP3 player while there OR you have a long commute. You need to listen to the lectures over and over again to get the full benefit.

Also, I heavily supplemented with the EK lecture books as well. It is by no means a complete study package but it a way to get down all the truly high yield information.

I went through and physically took notes on the AO lectures as I listened, meaning I had to go over each one multiple times in the process. It was very time consuming, but for me this was the most effective in making sure that I absorbed every single detail - more effective than just reading the lecture books (and I myself had always been a textbook learner in classes).

I listen to them once to get acquainted with what I am going to read in the lecture then I supplemented with my own notes and I add things that are not in the lecture or that where better explained in the AO. I also watch visual aid as well as mcatprep videos. Sometimes it seems that it takes too long but it is worth it since I am receiving/understanding the material from all different sources and learning styles and tapping on all learning modalities.😀

I agree, AO is a good review especially used in conjunction with other materials (the effects and jokes were corny but not as bothersome as some have said). BTW, which did you prefer: the visualaid or the mcat-prep.com videos?

I liked Audio Osmosis a lot...but I liked The Gold Standard Videos. I have both Audio Osmosis and the Gold Standard Videos by Dr. Ferdinand..it really helped me do well on the MCAT.

If you are interested in buying them from me..let me know.

mcat prep videos are very basic and to the point. Visual aid videos are more complete and go more into details so both are good. One for the big idea and the other for a more complete review

I've recently started listening to it. It's fairly entertaining, but as many have said, it's much more beneficial if you already sort of know your stuff. It feels more like an overall review/refresher of sorts to help you catch little details and condense what you know rather than spoon-feeding you what you need to own the MCATs. That said, it's still good, and as the others mentioned... it'll help a lot more if you listen to it often.
