Before I started my undergrad, I took many courses at a local college and university and a few AP courses also, but didn't make high grades in these and ended up with a low "transfer GPA" which carried on when I started undergrad.

My question is, how important is transfer GPA? It did make me start at a low GPA but my overall GPA is high as I've worked hard in college and have done well so far. Do med schools look at Overall GPA, or do they also look at Transfer GPA equally?

Every single course you've ever taken gets put together into your cumulative undergrad GPA. Your university's GPA doesn't matter any more or less.

(e.g., I took three semesters in 2009 where I did poorly, transferred somewhere else, then took more classes starting last year. Those different institutions all count toward my application GPA.)

That being said, upward trends are good.

Thanks. I know they look at cumulative (overall) GPA heavily as that's the main one, and my transfer GPA is factored into that. But I am asking if they will individually analyze my transfer GPA too? Or will they just look at the cumulative
