How is it fair....

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I understand this for medical school admission purposes....
Kind of why I don't agree with it/my post.

Doesn't matter if your ego doesn't let you agree with it. Its fact.

I still refuse to believe you're an actual person. You can't be struggling AND at the top of your class. I have a feeling that you'd be your behind handed to you at any other school due to you arrogantly thinking you're better because you went to a "better" school.

I went back to school after I got my degree from a top ten school to complete my pre-reqs. I had many friends do the same from the same caliber of school. They very erroneously thought that since they went to this highly rank school for UG that post bac at this lowly state University was going to be a cake walk.

.......these people failed. You will fail too if you don't check your ego. I can promise you that. It will not serve you well. This whole process of applying to medical school is incredibly humbling even to those applicants with high GPAs/MCAT scores and insane ECs. There is no such thing as a sure thing and your ego will crush you. Unless you check yourself now, you will never make it.

Has anyone considered that this may be steampaw?

Seriously, this can't be a real person.

I agree with @Agent B. If you weren't so busy feeling superior to literally every other poster on the thread, you would have noticed. I can count at least three users that have posted in this thread so far that went to top a five undergrad. There are probably more.
Thanks and I took their advice. I don't want advice from someone who struggled at all at De-****ing-PAUL.
@mehc012 especially.

A 3.5 science GPA at DePaul is more impressive than a 3.2 at U Chicago, trust me.

Depends. I'll actually argue that a 3.4 at DePauw is better than a 3.7 GPA at DePaul, which can be better than a 3.5 at UChicago. DePauw is most academically rigorous (but less well known than the famous deflators).

I'm only a sophomore... I have barely taken my pre-reqs let alone higher ups.
BUT a 3.5 at DePaul shouldn't even be given a second look in my opinion.
No reason to struggle at DEPAUL.

Dude this thread has been going on for 18 pages and it hasn't been a week yet. OP is legit.
This. If there is one thing they are devoted to, it is this thread. OP, you could probably put that on your CV. I'm sure medical schools would love to hear about it.

DUH. DePauw seems like a way better school.

If you are pulling a 3.2 GPA having barely taken pre-reqs, why do you feel you will be able to perform better in medical school?

Because I've barely taken enough science classes/my GPA is only going to go up.
Especially with my summer DePaul classes and my future (after grad) classes.

I seriously don't mean to be a bitch right now, I was in the past.
I know my GPA HAS to improve in order to even have a chance.

If you are doing poorly on something and you've barely even made it to difficult material, why do you think it is going to get any easier? I do not understand this reasoning, perhaps you can enlighten me.

100% agree, though I didn't know DePauw was that deflating, is that true?

I had few friends who went to DePauw and the last words I heard them saying was "Arrgh. DePauw is difficult and a merciless grade-deflator. It makes Princeton/UChicago/MIT look like a Harvard"... and that was two years ago 😢

Has anyone considered that this may be steampaw?
Definitely not streampaw.

I'm 99% sure they're a troll, but I've actually met several people at UChicago who think like this. They go from being extremely successful in high school to mediocre in college and can't handle the feelings of inadequacy. Self-loathing builds and builds until it eventually overflows as contempt for anyone who didn't choose the exercise in flagellation that is UChicago. Extremely unpleasant to be around.

Of course, I met even more people there who were kind and humble, so OP is probably just an asshat.

Because I'll find ways to impr0ve, plus taking classes at easier schools will help my GPA.

Dang, a few of my friends got great scholarships there and seem to love it!

Hold on there cowboy. OP looks hot from her profile pic and no where looks like an :asshat: or even :mooning: You got red-carded :sendoff:

So you go to Northwestern if you're in Chicago but have repeatedly said you dont go to UofC?
If so.. Kochanie had a thread asking for advice and she goes to Northwestern and did quite well this quarter. maybe read that thread.

I agree with both parts, but I still disagree with the overall notion that you'll magically become better in your subjects. P-Chem and I-Chem aren't easy. If you aren't pulling high grades in their lower components, I don't think stating that you'll do well in these is the most sound reasoning

Honestly, I go to UC, DO think I can improve my GPA, and was just pissed after finals when I made this thread.
K.

FYI. Ichem is much easier than pchem.

/random diversion

Well I have more classes before those, I'll see if I don't think I can handle them.

Wait! This is surprising. You go to a UC that is GRADE-DEFLATING?! I have few friends who attend there... and boy are the stories gruesome

How does going to MIT put him in a position to judge the Chicagoland schools? He doesn't go to MIT by the way. He goes to Hogwarts.
Well, from experience, everyone likes to make their school sound like it is the hardest place on earth.
Even with high schools in Chicago.
