They probably dont advertise their lower pass rate so it may be harder to find. It is probably newer schools or schools with a bad rep

Most schools don't have a 99% matching rate.

You are almost certainly looking at "placement", not match. Placement and match are not the same thing. Placement includes match, SOAP, and scramble. Almost no schools have a 99+% match rate either in the MD or the DO world for this reason.

how do i find pure match rate

even if i ask the admins at that school?
You can try. Your mileage is going to vary based on who's in the office that day and probably what they had for breakfast.

Ultimately, it's generally worthless information akin to trying to read a match list for a school's ability to place you. If a certain year twenty people applied dermatology and didn't match then SOAPed into x or y, it would look terrible - even if those people would have gotten into Hopkins IM or some such if they had applied differently.

You're reading too much into it. Just go to a school you like and bust ass while you're there.

The admins won't know, and the Admissions Dean isn't going to tell you. Deans are paid to lie.

I suggest that you worry about getting into medical school before worrying about match rates. Matching is more on the students than the school.

It depends how they are calculating what they are advertising. There's the real match rate from just the match. Then there's the "match rate" that includes the places where people SOAP into, which is most often around 99% for most schools

this is a lot worse than i expected

The University of Michigan is transparent enough to advertise their actual match rate (93.8%), as well as their placement rate (99.4%).

This is only one data point, but demonstrates that even top schools don’t have 99% match rates before SOAP!

I guess the silver lining is that no one seems to have an issue soaping into something if they don’t match

High up Medical school admin are mostly lying scoundrels. It's honestly disgusting.
i was gonna meet with an admin at a specfic school to see if i should apply early decision there and if i am a good candidate, do you think i should even bother?

Edit: to answer your question- yes, meet with them and treat it like an interview. Just don't believe everything they say about how wonderful they are.

Honestly, I should probably edit that post you quoted since I can't be 100% certain about any school other than my own. I went too far there. For my school, I've seen the discrepancy between the actual data and then what we tell applicants.

There's nothing wrong with talking to them. Just realize that most everyone in life is trying to sell you something unfortunately. If someone tells you (like my schools tell applicants) that they have a 100% match rate, they're almost certainly lying to your face. But basically everyone does it. Same thing for step 1 pass rates (the real rate for my school was like 85%, but admin did some sketchy math and reported like 99% or 100%)

The best way to figure it out is probably to talk to current students. But that's tough if you don't have any friends at the institution. The students they put in front of you on interview day are fanboys who are there to portray a certain image
