How is TPR for Physical Sciences?

Hi all,

I was wondering how TPR is for physical sciences. I have heard that it is a good review but I wanted to get some other opinions.

Also, what do you recommend for practice problems? Is the Hyperlearning Science Workbook + AAMC exams sufficient for this?

It's solid and if you work hard enough you'll get 12-13. Yes if funds are low that'll be enough. If you have time or money then you should get The berkeley review gen chem and physics book. Read TPR and do their examples and do the in chapter examples of TBR and their sick passages. Then use the TPR workbook to hone it on your weaknesses after taking practice tests. Good luck.

I concur completely. I had EK, PR, and BR books at my disposal, and hands down BR was the best. But that's because of the questions, passages, and explanations. Text is text for the most part, although BR presents many tips on how to look at concepts and deal with questions. But those tips are also in their answer explanations, so if you read text from another source but do the BR problems, you'll be fine.

If you're thinking of the class, BR is DEFINITELY BETTER than PR.

I see. I've noticed a lot of love for the BR PS passages, anyone know where I can find them? Also, is there a specific edition I should be looking for? I've checked ebay & amazon and it looks like they're out of the current editions.

No, because the movie Will Hunting had an IQ that was over 4 standard deviations past the mean (160-180).

I'm only two standard deviations above the mean but good enough to get into mensa. My friends and I took it for the hell of it one summer during college.

Yes, that is it. The books contain the passages it's not separate like TPR. So order TBR gen chem and physics. It'll be $100 for all 4 books and pay with a money order and not a check.

I'd order them now; I found an old post from berk review teach who said they won't be ready until September which is ridiculous because the physics was due in March and Gen Chem in June. However, Todd is anal and want's it perfect.

It's a prepaid. You have heard of Western Union? Well they are a money order service. Or, you can use a cahsier's check. You pay the amount to perhaps Western Union and send to the Berkeley review and so they have the money immediately and can send your books asap. TBR should tell you who to send it to.

You could, but I think the post office also does this service. The problem with Western Union is that you send it to a person. I think most people use that. Yes, fill out the form and bring cash and I think they'll allow to send it to a business.

Seems like you already got your answers, but wanted to add my two cents.

After taking the MCAT course review from TPR, I can say you can easily get 10 or 11 on PS without studying too much, assuming you're good at math and physics. But what will excel you beyond that?? I don't know anything about BR except that I hear it's better than PR.

So if you only want 10 or 11, just study PR. If you want higher, combine that with BR.
