I keep hearing that UMich has a different dental school program than other schools....like uic, marquette, or nova. I am really confused as to what that means. Is it that they are more research based more clinical based? Is something different about their curriculum? Any information will help. Please and thankyou.

No, I don't think they are significantly different than other schools.

there will be variations among different schools, but nothing significant. It is more clinical oriented, but they are also very strong in research, lots research opportunities as well.

From what I've heard they have something called IMS (integrated medical sciences) for your first two years of dental school. Instead of taking separate classes like biochem, physiology, anatomy etc- you go through different systems of the body. For example, let's say you start off with the circulatory system- you'd learn the biochem, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology of JUST the circulatory system. Then you move on to another system- say the respiratory system. I'm not sure if this is right so somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure how the other schools you mentioned compare to UMich, but I do know that they are far more research oriented than clinical. Since ann arbor isn't exactly in the ghetto like some other dschools, they don't have the huge patient base (not to say they're seriously lacking) that other schools may have... which translates into (moderately) less clinical experience for students.
