How late is too late?

I am a non-traditional student who is applying to Uniersity of Michigan. i met with the pre-dental admissions person at UM back in MArch and she told me that AADSAS takes 4-6 weeks to process applications so I should apply on June 3rd and take my DAT no later than July 15th. She also mentioned that last year they received half their applications in the first week of August and that after that time frame your chances of getting in significantly go down. I wanted to do everything she said but alas, it didnt work out that way. I wanted to take My DAT by july 15th but have moved it to Aug 8th. I plan on submitting my app this weekend. Im just wondering if anyone applied later (with completel application inclusing DAT scores) and still got in. Stupid question but worth asking...
I remember asking her that it sound slike youd rather get a point less on ur DAT and apply early than doing really awesome and applying late and she told me point blank :YES!
SO im kinda worried now..should i take my DAT early even though i am not really prepared..or shoudl I wait..

when i applied awhile back, i remember michigan never even acknowledged my application. i applied very late though (completed in middle of october). no word on it even being received, called them and everytime they said they havnt gotten to the box with my app yet. so yea, apply very very early there, or dont waste your money at all.

If you aren't ready for your DATs, dont take it and potentially screw yourself over for one school. If michigan is the only school youre applying too, then sure take it if that means youll make the deadline, otherwise wait until youre ready which would likely mean you will miss michigans "unofficial" deadline.

What's your stats? In my opinion, if you rocked the DAT and you have a decent gpa, you will get in somewhere even if it is late. I've read several examples here. However, since you spoke with someone inthe adcom, I would listen to her if your goal is to go to Michigan.

Crap. I esubmitted my app on July 11 (to Michigan) and taking the DAT on July 27th.

Did I just throw away money??

Took the DAT on September 28th 2009, Application complete November 30th 2009.

- Interviewed at Nova Jan 14th 2010, accepted at NOVA Feb 18th 2010
- Interviewed at my 1st choice - UCLA on April 16th 2010 got accepted April 26th.
- Got invited to interview at NYU on March 12th but I withdrew.

I applied to the University of Michigan last year mid-august. They never got to my application. They told me in November that they still had 200 applications before mine. However, I believe they favor their own undergraduates. So if you went there for undergrad you may have a better chance.

Well
I am a UM graduate. I graduated back in 2006 and had a gpa of 3.7 and science gpa of 3.5. I have to take the DAT and because I am a near eastern studies major i have only taken the bare courses. SO kind of nervous. im not a genius as you can see and so applying late might not be in my favor either. IF i do end up taking the DAT later i might just shoot for next cycle and never apply this cycle cuz Michigan is the only school i can goto.
