I applied to a ton of schools, and now I'm getting quite a bit of interviews. Was wondering if I should think about not going to some as it feels like it will become overwhelming. Of course, without a guaranteed acceptance yet (looking at you UOP), I also feel hardpressed not to go to all of them since I want to get into a dental school.

Lol how about after you get your first acceptance letter?

10 seems like a good number to me for pre-dec.

If you get anymore you could also try and schedule them for after december. That way you may already have an acceptance in hand.

Tough position to be in. 😉

I'm kinda in the same situation as the OP, but very grateful to get the interviews 😀

yeah i have 11 and i've decided to schedule 2 for after december and just not go if i get into my top choices- i'm grateful to have the opportunity to explore the schools and get a real feel for them but i have a financial cut-off!

you can schedule interviews after december? did you just ask them if they offered any interviews that were after december?

it depends on your stats and your perceived interview skills. there's not really a good number to go by and I'm actually worried myself because I applied to very few schools but just think about if you honestly want to go to the school that you are getting the interview from. if it's just a matter of you want to go to any dental school, not a specific one, then accept all interviews

could i actually call and ask for an interview after december first? if i want to delay the interview, should i do that, or just not call and schedule until after december first?

i'd love to take some of those interview off your hands for you ;P. Ha, good work thus far. I'm sure this is a very hard decision for you to make. but most of the members have given you good advice on planning some post-dec.

Attend as many as financially possible. If you can turn them into trips, do so and explore a little!

I am attending 6 pre-dec, as I am fortunate enough to have received interviews from all my top choice schools except 1. There are 2 I am not going to attend pre-dec and will be asking them to postpone my interview until after the new year. I know this may significantly lessen my chances at these 2 particular schools, but I can't financially justify going on 2 extra trips when I would be far happier with an acceptance at one of the 6 I am attending/have attended pre-dec.

Being non-trad and having a fair amount of interview experience from both sides of the table, I am probably more comfortable interviewing than many who have not been through a similar process already might be. If you are not completely comfortable with interviews, I suggest going to as many as financially possible.
