How many questions do they add to the usmle pool in May every year and how many do they retire?


Is there a possibility that nbme 11 questions might come on the exam, or are they too old?

are these just random numbers, if they only added 179 or 350 wouldn't that be a really small pool of questions maybe 2000 total? like Uworld bank is.....

AFAIK they retire about 175 Qs and add about 350 Qs every year.
Out of those 350 Qs about 175 are experimental questions and 175 Qs are the final additions after discarding 175 from the previous years addition of 175 Qs.
So, every year this cycle continues where each year there are actually 525 Qs--175 from previous 2 years balance of 350 and 175 from this years and 175 experimental Qs.
The total pool of Qs is rumored to be around 29,582.

why do they need to remake the curve every year for May--> June test takers if they have already tested the new questions they are gonna add??
