how many passages does the kaplan qbank contain?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
1) how many passages?

2) is it true that the qbank contains a lot of errors?

1) The Qbank allows you to create your own practice tests. You can make it all discretes or all passages. If you want to know how many there are, then select the "only passages" option for each subject then add'em up.

Ok, I just realized that you may not have kaplan yet, and may not have access to the Qbank. I know SN2ed has posted the apporximate number in numerous posts. I'd say try a google "sdn sn2ed number of kaplan tbr tpr passages" search or something like that.

But, there a lot.

2) I don't remember too many errors, but I do remember a lot of repeated questions and typos. Once I got over that annoyance, I thought it was helpful, tough practice.

Here's what I posted before on the subject (though you probably don't need the bit about FLs):

The QBank is a collection of practice passages and questions. The good thing about it is that you can kind of make your own FLs. You can do this with either random passages or passages from topics of your choosing. Unfortunately, your pre-made FL will usually be slightly off in terms of passages and timing. Not to mention Kaplan's weakness in verbal. So while the QBank is a decent resource, it cannot replace FLs.

Additionally, the QBank is smaller than you might think with probably 150-180 passages. One BR book set alone, such as Physics, contains 100 passages by itself. You could also pick up both TPRH Workbooks (Science and Verbal) and get FAR more passages and questions. Both workbooks combined have around 360 passages and 800 discretes. Now if each passage has 7 questions, that's a total of 3300 questions.

In your case, your best bet will be to hunt down the TPRH Workbooks (typically found in the For Sale forum or on auction sites and sometimes Amazon) and pick up some FLs.

To sum up, it's grossly overpriced.

Thanks g8orlife and SN2ed for your responses.
Just one question for SN2ed:
I'm taking the MCAT in ~4,5 months and already have all of the TBR books, the TPRH science workbook, and all of the EK 1001 series.
I'm just looking for more practice material since I might run out of passages (because I started studying 2 weeks ago and have been doing passages each day).
I think I can buy the Kaplan Qbank alone for about $200 (if I'm not mistaken). Do you think its worth it ?

You honestly shouldn't be taking passages this soon. You want to concentrate them into about a 3 month period, 4 tops. For $200, I'd simply add on more FLs like all 7 BR FLs. Doing that, I think you'd get about 147 passages at 7 passages per section. Oh and definitely get the TPRH Verbal Workbook and EK Verbal 101 because you'll be lacking in good verbal practice material.

Yeah I already have EK 101, TPR verbal and the 7 TBR CBT's. Is there any reason why I should not be doing passages now

Kind of goes into why you're asking for more good passages, there aren't that many good sources. Plus, you really want to concentrate them closer to your test. If you really want to spend the money, go for it.
